Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Been good so far...locally. Internationally, it's not even close to Telkom LTE for me. Definitely disappointed in the intl speeds. I get 5mbps to London on my 40mb fiber line, where I got 20mbps on my LTE connection.

May I ask what fibre network are you on? Frogfoot?
 
See evetone complaining about their ISP tonight but on Afrihost pure fibre on Openserve 200Mbps it's pretty decent. Streamed dstv now while downloading a torrent all at line speed.

@AfriFella , I’m with openserve/Telkom fixed line, ISP and fibre 40/20. Would like to cancel everything associated with Telkom and sign on for Afrihost Fibre deal.
Please elucidate the steps that I should take to come aboard.
Also, how would I benefit from the R5,000 offer as I already have an installed fibre line.
Would I apply for the service with Afrihost first or Should I cancel everything with Telkom first ?

Yeah - that's great and all - i just hope it will stay like that once all the new recruits start up their engines.

Cautiously optimistic . . . .

The real test will be from Aug and September when everyone starts joining..but as you say.. Cautiously optimistic

I'm on Openserv. It's a bit concerning. I've been using LTE for the last couple of years, mainly to watch Netflix and Showmax, and neither of them ever buffered. But now on fibre, especially from around 9 in the evening it buffers frequently, and sometimes just stops playing altogether. When it does that, and I do a local speedtest, i'm still getting full speed on my line.
 
Still waiting for my router delivery.. Ordered last Tuesday? Pls assist..

Have you done any tracerts by any chance ?

Thats nonsene - they did exactly that for mine.... Ask to speak with Telisha. Unless there is some cutoff date or something...

Ah ok - well that's weird, because i had mine changed from 31 Aug to as close to 1 Aug as possible. At least she SAID she did it - so I HOPE she did it.

Which FNO? I know Vuma has a bug in their system with regard to releasing lines.

Very weird because I use a 200Mbps line which is very easy to see slow speeds and latency issue but it's perfect my side. Maybe it's because of the Durban IPC?

I'm in PTA which goes to JHB but it's perfect. Streaming twitch or any international is fine. You mentioned Showmax and Netflix both which is local. Showmax and DSTV is served by Akamai and Netflix with their own JHB peering at NAP Africa JHB.
