Those are looking good! :giggle:

What you can do if your devices likes to stick to the 2.4GHz band is to separate the 2 wifi bands in the router settings so you can manually select which devices uses which band.

@AfriNatic hi I'm having trouble with dns on my fibre line. I'm using smartdnsproxy servers to access services for tv. For the past week the internet disconnects and I have to remove and add the dns servers again. Are you aware of this issue and a solution?

Good morning,

I have used SmrtDNS Proxy on my connection before and it worked well. Do you use the 2 local DNS servers provided by them?

Interesting... Some users on VR arent affected though

We are waiting for confirmation from Vumatel but it might be PPPoE Authentication related. If the ONT was powered it should be okay but we are waiting for confirmation from Vumatel on the exact nature of the outage.

Did so last night. I was hoping Vuma would do the logical thing and offer us the option to stay on the upgrades, but instead they went the route of a price increase and an upload speed I don't need at home.

So this is not done automatically?

No it's not. Since the double speed is a promo from Afrihost we needed to upgrade each clients line for the speeds to be doubled. Since the promo is not being extended unfortunately each client that took the double speed need to have their line downgraded again.

We would also not know which clients want to stay on the new speeds and which do not.

Mmmm, there's going to be massive blow back I feel adopting this stance. We've seen it time and time again in other examples. Take MTN's recent BF fiasco where customers with matured contracts started being billed regular rates. Warranted, the price difference in the MTN example are vast compared to what Afrihost fibre customers are likely to pay.

I don't see the issue IMHO as everyone that has the double speed promo had to physically opt in by clicking a button, no other ISP was offering this AFAIK. They know it's a promo and for how long or else they wouldn't have done it in the first place of going into the clientzone, clicking on the line, then clicking upgrade. It was fun while it lasted.

In my experience Afrihost has been pretty damn good with their emails, informing clients of the changes to their accounts etc.
