Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

I just cancelled and moved to cisp. The AH pppoe account worked up until about 4pm or so on the 1st. On the 2nd AH released the line and it took another day for the new isp to pick it up. Your line doesn't go down immediately when put into the holding pool, i'v heard its up to 7 days it stays online before it gets suspended but i don't know the exact duration for sure.

Your line never stopped working while in the holding pool right?

Excellent idea to have another prepaid account on Openserve handy (one of the only ones that allow it, ironically).
I'm certain you can use the MWEB link and another ISP account on top of that and get better speeds on the uplink. Maybe test and see if it works and provide some feedback?

It should same with the now legacy 8/5 Openserve line Afrihost sold. 10/5 is the lowest the 4/2 was discontinued a while back. The accounts get speed limited.

As far as im aware yes. AH released my line on the 2nd according to them and cisp placed an order that same day. The next day cisp said they successfully picked up the line, so i assume it must have been in the holding pool otherwise that order would have never gone through.

Yeah same with me back then. Supersonic released on 25. I think the 1st or 2nd it got disabled the Friday night. Quick contact at Afrihost and they migrated it at around 9pm on a Friday night.

Im done.... My last email sent to "Support" staff.

Hi Sreejith,

Is Vinay your manager?

If you get him to take a look at the long list of emails I have sent him over the last while. I have yet to receive a SINGLE response from him. I have been patient since mid-February and we are still nowhere in terms of fixing the issue.

Between dealing with normal support staff to having Nicholas Laming take over the case everything has just gone quiet. Marc Aiken from Telelanga tested the line and said there is packet loss due to congestion and he has raised the issue with SADV. This was a couple weeks ago.

The long short of it is when I want to use the internet I can’t. I have slow speeds and packet loss during peak times. I have submitted numerous tests to attest to this. Now I am done with this issue, you clearly are unable to deal with the issue and unfortunately you are my point of contact for SADV.

What you can do is give me a credit for the last 57 Days I have had this issue. I do not expect a full refund but a partial refund will suffice. This will hopefully pay for 1 calendar month’s rental while I have a new line etc installed.

You guys have had your chance and I think I have been patient enough.

Cheers.

Hi

Not sure if someone asked this already, but here go's

Why does the R5000 credit not count for installations anymore on the Frogfoot Network? It shows R997 is payable to Afrihost, even if I do not take the router, its still R997 for installation?

On 13 March I had a new install on Frogfoot and it was covered in full

That's good to know. Might be crossing from Openserve to Frogfoot soon because of the latter offering 500/500 for the same price as OS's 200/100. Just not sure how much downtime there'll be during the crossover period, as well as the stability of the FF network. Never had a single issue on my Openserve line since installation

Lucky fish I need myself a 1/1Gbps line

I'm also thinking about having the 2nd line installed and running the 2 in parallel for a couple of weeks. It will mean one double payment, but it will mean no downtime and I can make sure the FF one performs as intended before cancelling the OS one

Maybe downgrade the OS one to the cheapest option then just in case and run frogfoot at 500/500 if the finances allow so you can test it during peak time. If it's slow during peak then it will likely not work out. If it performs well then cancel the openserve one you can always reactivate if needs be because the line is already installed.

Yes, good idea... R600 is better than R1500 :D However, AH still have this on the website : "Any Frogfoot signup will be charged R997.00 for installation, payable during sign up of Fibre line." Maybe one of the Afri-people can comment

The thing is, it wants to charge me the R997 for installation on acceptance of the order on their side. My parents also got fiber installed the 15th March and it was covered by Afrihost.

Nevermind, I saw them hiding it in their T's and C's
