Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

Taking 20 days to completely miss the point is impressive. Your pmail, like all of my interaction with Afrighost over the last 4 or 5 months was a waste of the time it took to read it and reply. It typifies the contempt with which I have been treated by Afrihost perfectly by not addressing the points that I described in detail here previously.

Afrihost has gone from being a company that i actively promoted to one I don't trust. Congrats.

I'm sorry to hear that your opinion of us has dropped so low. :( Let's continue working on this over PM. I'm sure we'll be able to find a mutually acceptable resolution here.

Edit: Just noticed I submitted my post too early. Apologies.

Anyway, it's been going for a while now and I have no idea what the problem could be. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Heya Jacques. Thanks for testing. All three results seem to indicate higher than normal latency coming in at your exchange. I'm glad to hear that the problem has since resolved itself, but I'd like to find out from you if this is a new occurrence or something that has been a problem for a while?

It's been a problem about once a week for the past few months. Normally it wouldn't be a problem but my mother is running a small business from home and my brother's been studying online the last couple of weeks so having down time for half a day has been stressfull. Today again the tempers flaired and curses flew round and about and decided it's finally time to start figuring out what the cause might be.

Thank you but you did all the tests except the most crucial part of troubleshooting 101, which is to simply try another ISP.

Trying to play rocket league tonight, getting 300+ pings :(

Ping: 117ms
Download: 7.6Mbps
Upload: 0.77Mbps

I have had incredibly bad internet experience overly the last few weeks, however, this weekend it has been plain horrible. YouTube buffers on 144p. I am on 4mb uncapped premium. Lansdowne, Cape Town area.

Is this a known issue on home uncapped and should I just move back to a business account?

My business uncapped has been running like a snail this weekend, it's been up and down for a few weeks as well, pages sometimes take forever to load and gaming ping is all over the place.

That doesn't sound right. Can you please post a traceroute so I can check your results? :(

YouTube performance should be normal, and should not be affected regardless as an unshaped service.

Can you please post a traceroute so we can take a look? :(

Usenet running incredibly slow.

Astraweb running at average 5 KB/s for last couple of days

Are other services affected? If not, it may be that you're testing during periods when those services are shaped (especially on Home or Premium Uncapped).

Do you have a 1GB Free account to test without shaping?

We don't generally shape Business but it is possible if there is high demand. Demand should be low at the moment. Is the performance good right now?

Not at Home at the moment. This has been ongoing for more than a week. Cannot evening connect most evening to Afrihost's own Usenet server
