Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Hello, not sure if I should start my own thread.

2 Weeks ago the Cell C signal disappeared.

I am in a deep rural KZN area and roam on MTN. MTN users also say they have no data. So I call up Cell C today to see what can be done.

After getting put through to a technical person, he says to me that the problem is the contract I am on. There are connectivity issues with the contract. Anyway I searched manually and confirmed there is no MTN, Cell C signal, only Vodacom. So I am only able to roam on Vodacom 2G.

But I have been using Cell C for over 2 years. Why is there suddenly an issue with my contract? The technician seems convinced that the "Media play" contract will fix my issue. I ask him if that contract can connect to Vodacom 3G/4G and he says yes. Can anyone confirm this nonsense?

He says hes putting me through then hangs up on me.... So anyone heard of a "Media play" data contract with Cell C that roams on Vodacom? This seems absurd.
Cell C only has edge roaming on Vodacom from my knowledge. Maybe just tryna get you to sign up to a contract....

I have been on a CellC "Fixed mobile" contract for almost two years now, was really happy with the signal and service to now.
From 22 February 17:01, I have just had absolutely zero signal :(
My Vodacom and Rain SIM cards still work perfectly, just the CellC one went completely dead.

Afrihost (through who this 20GB contract runs) has apparently ended their partnership with CellC, and issued me a new (Telkom) SIM to insert into my modem from 1 March. Could this be that CellC has decided to pull the plug early, and give Afrihost the finger?

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Afrihost Down 2.jpg So for 3 days we have had to use alternative means, and I assume this will continue until 1 March?
Not sure if I should be asking for help at CellC or Afrihost?
Afrihost was clear that the new SIM will only be active from 1 March.

Turns out my SIM card has died, and getting a replacement 2-5 days.
So Afrihost will be wasting money to courier a new SIM to me for 1 day of usage in a best case scenario

@Cell_C please advise why my ussd is not working on my iphone 11 when wifi calling is activated, when i turn off my wifi then the ussd codes are working

Hi codusv

That's a norm. You need to turn off WiFi calling when you need to use ussd codes.

My wife and my own FNB connect sim can't make calls now, just ends. N Subs CPT. USSD works. Anyone else having issues?

Hi.
Having issues with outgoing email. smtp set as mail.cmobile.co.za
Mail leaves outbox and goes to sent items but not recieved by other party. Strangely happening on two different sim cards and different pc's but same location. I changed to another service provider and put their smtp server and it works. Definately something funny with mail.cmobile.co.za, about a week now ???

Hi amanjee

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Please PM us your Cell C number/ID and an alternative contact number. We will refer this matter to our Technical Team for assistance.

How can this be? It keeps using my 6 month bundle before my 365 day one despite there being still 7.57MB left and it expiring first.

CellC and Loadshedding

it seems in my area cellc is the only network that is unable to provide data during loadshedding - and this is constant, not a once off or occasional thing.
i have spoken to the call centre who choose to lie and say it happens to all networks, however, i use a dual sim phone - if i switch networks 4g is up and running perfectly, switch back to cellc and i get "no internet connection" error messages.

going a step further, the transmitters seem to battle to get up and running after power has been restored.
since 10pm last night - no signal.
the future of cellc looks bleak - it may be time to migrate

Having the same issue in Bluff Durban,
I have a work mobile on MTN and it works considerably better than CellC during load shedding.
Even after load shedding is complete it takes about 15/30mins for service to restore.

Good day

Mobile network operators rely on a reliable supply of electricity at their base stations to provide customers with coverage. We are working on getting generators in all areas affected by load shedding.

All operators have contingency measures in place in case of a power outage, including back-up generators or batteries that keep their towers operational during load-shedding.

However, due to factors like battery recharge times and a wave of criminal activity at base stations, the operators’ ability to contain these effects has been limited.

Hi there

I bought one of those 30-day 80mb bundles, but when I check the balance it no longer tells me the expiry date, just the available data.

If I hadn't hung on to the sms I received after buying the bundle I would have no idea when my data expires. Why is there no longer and expiration date attached when I check my balace?

Hi DinkyDi

Please check your balance by dialing *147#, then choosing the option for Balance.
