R6 billion is what remained as net profit. You must look at the revenue number i.e. what customers paid to Vodacom, which is R55 billion or about R1 382 per customer per year.

Vodacom

1GB: R 289.00
2GB: R 389.00
3GB: R 589.00
5GB: R 989.00
10GB: R 1,989.00

Pro's:
3.6 Mbs
Mobile

Cons:
Unreliable
Bad Latency
No Local Bandwidth
If you go over your cap you pay R1000 per GB.

------------------------------------

ADSL - afrihost + Telkom

Do Broadband1: R199
This includes 1GB Cap, 10GB Local AND your ADSL line Rental

Telkom Line Rental: R131
Note: This is only needed if you do not have a land line for voice calls already

Afrihost price per GB: R29

1GB: R 330.00
2GB: R 359.00
3GB: R 388.00
5GB: R 446.00
10GB: R 591.00

and if you ALREADY have a telkom voice line, this will be your totals:

1GB: R 200.00
2GB: R 229.00
3GB: R 258.00
5GB: R 316.00
10GB: R 461.00

Pro's:
Very Reliable
Good Latency
10GB Free Local Bandwidth
Fixed amount to pay every month

Cons:
386kbs
Not Mobile

IMO though, 386kbs ADSL = Vodacom "3.6Mbs"

in any case, 3.6 Mbs is gonna help you fakall if you pay through the nose for tiny caps

I wish vodacom would answer your question, everyone on vodacom that i game with are asking the same question; When is the price coming down?

My contract "My gig5" is comming to an end in the next 6 months and if they haven't adjusted their prices by then i jumping ship. I see offers o0f R20 a gig which makes my R200 odd rand a gig look outrageous. I know equipement/line rentals come into play but a mate of mine just got wimax for R50/month rental and 20/gig.

I they'd just give us an idea of when and how much

Why should they? No one can compete with them so they'll milk the cow for everything its got for as long as they can...

wimax for R50 a month rental?

more info please?

www.screamer.co.za

He got a deal for the whole complex he works at. I see the price on their website is a bit more than he's paying. R279/pm or R2999 once off but 23/gb after the first gig 3 c per mb out of bundle rate. they have a whole bunch of unlimited options. He's tested them on loan equipement for a month or two and after a few teething problems says they seem to have their act together.

worth a look in my opinion

I assume they use telkoms wimax coverage which is not bad and i have an ip phone through them atm so if thats the case should be an easy change over from vodacom.

Iburst gave their customers a few nice deal, how about us Vodacom?2 gigs at the current price is incredibly hefty,so give your subscribers a prezzie dammit.

I love the way this thread gets ignored by Vodacom.
Vodacom silently wishes this thread would vanish into the depths of this forum.

Hi

We have nothing on our tables at the moment.

Thanks for the answer.

I like what iBurst have done; splitting the subscription and the data charges. Vodacom should look at doing something like that. It makes no sense to punish (at R2.00 per MB) your customers who want to buy more from you (i.e. go out of bundle).

I suppose imo that's if you are on the SEACOM band wagon, building your own DSLAMS (FTW)

No, that might be the reason they were able to double all of their bundle sizes for the same price.

Vodacom could split the subscription and data charges even they get their data via carrier pigeon.

R2.00 per MB may well be a fair price for someone who occasionally browses and checks email on their mobile. It is not a fair price for someone who buys a 2GB bundle from you every month.

When Seacom was first on the horizon v3g indicated that Vodacom was very much in line to buy a fat pipe of data. What happened to those plans?

Redundancy

BUT

i did not say we wont buy from them.
