1. Buy a modem cash or use your existing one. If you don't have the cash, get a credit card and get it. They can be as cheap as R1000 if you look around.
2. Buy your bundles each month. If you are a 1GB user, buy a 2GB bundle that lasts you 60 days which will cost you R194.50 instead of R289 a huge savings
3. If there is a month you are going on holiday and need only 500mb, then you have the power to do that and not waste your money.

Please people, don't sign a 24 month contract with this greedy bastad blady agents

A little tip if you want to buy a modem for cash. Go and buy it from Telkom. Their modems are not network locked and they are very well priced. Got myself a brand new Huawei E180 from Telkom for R849.

Vodacom really cannot rely on the notion of brand loyalty to keep customers, SEACOM has been around for quite a while now, and it is time for Vodacom to significantly lower its data prices instead of just trying to match MTN in a few advanced data bundle instances.

This is an important thread not just for us Vodacom customers, but also for Vodacom if Vodacom cares about what customers think of Vodacom and its pricing at this point in time.

Thanks for your comment. I sent this thread to the Decision makers to make them aware of what our clients needs and wants are. I can't Guarantee that anything will change but at least they will know what the feedback is.

Decision makers : take a look at my suggestion for ONE price per MB - no package, no roll over, no in-bundle/OOB etc
 
I don't know what Vodacom should do any more, seriously - but R300 for a single Gig is not going to keep me as a customer for any Longer

You see, if you go to a bar and pay R36 for a drink, I will buy one or two drinks, because you know you are paying an arm and a leg
If I was charged R18 for a drink, I might start to let myself go, relax a bit and stop worrying about how much money I am paying - and I'd be drinking more - much more!

*not that Im an alcoholic, but is the only thing I thought of to compare


Basically, We as 3G users are spending less because we only download what think is "Worth it"

If I pay a lot to download 1 song I might only download that once a month
But if it's not too much then I don't really care any more, and just download as I please

at this moment I watch my data like a hawk - not only is this a terrible experience but i'm sure I'd be spending more on Vodacom if I thought it was worth it - currently I only download what is REALLY necessary

They do it, because they CAN do it...

Buying in bulk has never been an option on Vodacom
 
An idea to free yourself from 3g hell, Find a coffee shop that provides uncapped ADSL & WIFI connection, then your only cost will be coffee, until they catch on and take the "bottomless coffee" special away. Just remember, you get what you pay for! Maybe its not a good idea, then the price of coffee beans will skyrocket and then i would have to start my own thread.
 
While uncapped on a mobile network might seem unreasonable, bigger caps for 60% less than what they are now would be much appreciated. I would like to have a 10gb or even 20gb cap but like HELL will I pay R1989.00 & R3899.00 respectively! Why on earth are there 2 different bundles instead of just a Cap. My modem's fastest speed is 7.2 mbps but I was unable to utilize its fastest speed until recently because the broadband advance prices are ridiculous. Vodacom stop playing BALANCE SCALE games with MTN by keep trying to match their prices. Simple:

1gb = R49.00
2gb = R89.00
5gb = R189.00
10gb = R389.00
20gb = R589

If VC does this I guarantee they will make 3x more money on data bundles alone than on anything else they're selling!

USE IT DON'T USE IT.

Your analogy can be interpreted in the following way, R36 for one pint at the Bar, so as not to be over the limit, and then you go home to your R18 pint and knock them over till the internet collapses.
Simply put, if you want to drink more, and then stay at home. What does one need so badly, that he/she cannot wait till they get home? Which brings me to the following reasoning, 3g for quick checks & ADSL landline for downloading the Internet?
 
Ok Vodacom, let me help you out with making your customers happy as well as making more revenue.

So, leave the bundles 2GB and less the way you have them as you need to keep your current revenue constant. Now we have a few high end users named Piet, Jan, and Agent. These users are spending R389 for 2GB per month and no more as this bundle is the best value for money. All three of them would like more data but their logic tells them that it is not worth getting higher bundles as the price per MB is the same. So you have R1167 per month revenue from these users.

So, what you do is introduce the following (P.S. I will leave the 89 at the end as I know that is Vodacom's magic number)

3GB @ R489 (16.3c/MB)
5GB @ R589 (11.8c/MB)
7GB @ R689 (9.8c/MB)
10GB @ R889 (8.9c/MB)
15GB @ R989 (6.6c /MB)
20GB @ R1189 (5.9c/MB)
30GB @ R1489 (4.9c/MB)

Piet decides, hey, I need 10GB and pays R889 per month now. Jan says, hey, I need 15GB so he pays R989 now. Agent says, I need 30GB so he pays R1489 per month now.

Vodacom's turnover from high end users goes from R1167 per month to R3367 per month. 288% increase on turnover. And we all know that profit will not be effected too much with the increased data.

So Vodacom increase their turnover (and profits) and Piet, Jan and Agent tell all their friends about how happy they are with Vodacom's new pricing for high end users, Vodacom gets more customers. Everyone lives happily ever after.

Don't have, or don't want Mr Shred. I agree, Prepaid sims are easier to get rid of when the Pirate police are knocking on your door i suppose.

Guys, the bottom line is VC doesn't really need any more of our money. What they are doing is protecting the sustainability of their network. Dropping their prices only means that every Tom, Dick and Harry will jump on it and bring it to it knees. Not what they want. So they keep their prices high and protect their integrity. Uncapped bandwidth on 3G? Not likely.

Can't get. Telkom won't install due to copper theft. Or Telkom won't install in new complexes. Or Telkom is not investing in infrastructure in the current financial year. Goes on and on Mr Roadkill. I would give anything to get ADSL with these new prices.
 
Have to agree with P0is3nIvy uncapped 3G is pushing it. But the prices which are being offered are ridiculous. We need Vodacom to drop these prices, I don't even know when was the last time I watched a youtube video because I have to ration my MB.
