that's R166 for 5GB's of 21Mbps Goodness!

oh well, there goes another one... :(

at least you said good bye :o

so did you go for the Mweb Uncapped @ R349 all inclusive (ADSL + Line Rental) package?

Leaving my DSL portion with Telkom, as I intend to ISP-hop a bit until I find one that's just right.

Trying the new OpenWeb 384k Lite first. So far, I can't complain.
Just going absolutely LOONEY on all the things that need updating. (PS3, Windows, Corel Draw, etc)

Once those important things are done, I will take her for a stress test on NZB, RapidShare, Torrents, and whatever else.

If prices from Cell C are remotely close to that I wave good buy to Vodacom in a heart beat

ditto and amen but...
my office building has a nice big VC 3G tower on it so I will get a CELLC starter today and test speeds first.

5GB of data at GPRS speeds will take about 3 years to download...

I have bought my last R389 data bundle from Vodacom. Come August the 20th, I will take out my R1999 and give it to Cell C with a smile on my face.

That is a truly great deal and very much in line with the R50/GB figures that have been suggested here by forumites. Clearly someone is listening to what the consumer wants.

I really hope CellC have the network to back it up though. This is some much needed competition to break the strangle hold Vodacom and MTN have on the mobile broadband market.

I had a "problem" with my contract number where i can browse and download and it only took 1cent to about 20cents from my account. I phoned vodacom and explained the situation and was transferred to some lady who asked me to browse again and do what i was doing until she called back, so they can see why i wasnt getting "charged". For that one day was allowed to download so i fun with the 3g connection did a couple of gigs.At least at the end of it all i wasnt changed for all the errors that had happened as it was a contract number and i thought vodacom would charge me.

I'm really trying to be positive that Vodacom will give me more data ... but at the same time I'm preparing myself for the let down :)

Do Cell-C still have a roaming agreement with Vodacom?

I remember when Virgin Mobile was launched, people were able to put their mobile phones and modems into 'manual operator select' mode and choose Vodacom instead of Cell-C. I wonder if this will still be possible.

As far as I know, this is still the case, but for 2G only. No 3G roaming agreement has been signed, so if Cell C has now 3G coverage in your area, then you will not be able to roam on Voda 3G.

According to the network technicians from Vodacom who came to assist with dropped connections, the tower I was connecting to (with my Vodacom 3G) was a Cell C tower. I have no idea how the arrangement between Cell C and Vodacom works though.

It was (actually still is) dodgy and drops both data connections and phone calls, so if I'm in the wrong part of the house I often have to switch my phone to GSM only to be able to talk to anyone. Sorted the data problem out firstly by using an antenna to get a better signal from a different tower, and then later really fixed it by getting ADSL.

Leaving Vodacom soon, moving onto wireless in about 2 weeks time. Cheers I guess.

Ok, so I left a message on that "tell trevor" or whatever website - all I posted was "Make 3G Affordable."
