Do you have any other services aside from Dropbox, TeamViewer transfers are obviously to another last mile user which is a bit more complicated.Youtube? Nope fast, around 100-130Mbps (cached locally right?)
Google Drive? Nope fast around 140-180Mbps (cached locally right?)
Dropbox? Yes but possibly because it is not paid version (international)
Teamviewer? Paid version. Remote file transfer slow. (international)
Speedtests to international servers? slow. No big deal but would expect my experience and that of a user in a different suburb but with the same ISP and fibre provider to be fairly similar?
Often it's an MTU thing have you tried playing around with your router settings?

My gf in rosebank is looking to sign up for fiber. I recommended cisp but she says there is no installation/connection fee and free router promo with afrihost and would prefer to go with them on that basis. Does cisp have something similar ? (Openserve)

Try leave it on 1462 if thats where packets stopped fragging.Zyxel SBG-3300N. I followed the instructions in the link I sent you (as far as CMD testing goes, not changing router settings), and it led me pretty much back to my current MTU setting:
Fragmented packets at 1492 until I reached 1462, but it says add 28 for IP/ICMP headers, which is then 1490. Pretty much where I was.

What's the purpose of changing MTU rates? Improve performance of single download thread?
I followed your link to and played around but not really sure what the point is or how altering MTU rates effects performance. Also the packet loss seems inconsistent.
Using yahoo as the example, 1440 looked to be the sweet spot for me but changing my router settings to 1468 and repeating the test I would get packets need to be fragmented message.
You could be onto something but why?

Then you didn't follow that KB article correctly. They give you example numbers to use, but you still need to test with ping until you dont get the fragmented message and then add the 28. Only then you know what the optimal value is.
Using an automatic value is usually better when it works.
