I agree with this 100%, can't believe I forgot about that. You need a proper download manager, either IDM for windows or Folx for Mac. Allows for multi-threaded downloads.

I would agree most of the time all browser download managers can do with massive improvements but I dont think this is the case here seeing that I am not showing these slow speeds to the same local mirror he used and using the same browser he used.
Looney I did not disagree that browser manager in most cases suck compared to proper multi threaded download manager.
But the issue here is not just a few % slower speed he is experiencing. His speed issue seems like 10% of what he should be getting which I am unable to replicate also being on coolideas and testing directly within browser.
Mmmmm, I see a far greater differential between Chrome and IDM. Is there a setting in Chrome I'm missing perhaps? Don't believe there are any configurable options in Chrome...

Guys can you provide me with that downloading URL link so that I can try on my side? I wont use it just to speed test.
Nope, I haven't touched any settings on chrome. Don't think there is.
Here's what I get in Chrome at the moment:

(Tested each download separately, I wasn't doing them at the same time, but I didn't try to stop any other random network activity, streaming etc.)
Guys thanks for all your feedback and input but to clarify I do get good speeds during the day and no problem whatsoever, however after 7pm the connection speeds drop completely down to 5-20mbps which makes streaming and everything else very slow. Like now my download is full speed, no buffering when streaming but I know that later or after 7pm i will have the same problem, the connection speeds get better after 11pm.. so it seems that their network is too busy during those times and I would accept slower speeds during busy times but not 10% of the line speed.
Thats the issue and I really hope Cool Ideas finds the cause and resolves the issue as I dont really feel like paying R 1500 pm for connection that some time works and some time doesnt, it should be stable and consistent during all the time to say its a good quality service.
Cheers

If it's specific to yourself which it seems to be then it's a line or internal fault as mentioned. I'm not ignoring anything and have mentioned to please email me directly paul at cisp.co.za so we can assist in resolving. It's not on our networks side. If no one else has the issue at that time then it's line or internally related. I have said this many times before that we don't manipulate any form of traffic on our network.Again 8pm comes and the speeds go to nothing.... 20mbps to all international servers. cool ideas and @PBCool tend to ignore the issue and blame it to clients internal devices or whatever, then vumatel line, then probably clients fault for even using the internet. For the past 3-4 weeks Cool Ideas connection bas been ****.... thats my experience and i get even more frustrated that we do so much by testing providing info to them and they just make us stupid...
Can anyone suggest a good ISP that has enough bandwidth to provide stable speeds throughout the day?
This was a limitation on the fibrehoods handover if you recall.Yeah, weird that. I experienced something similar in my first month on Cool Ideas. It improved though...

It would apply to all our customers on the Vumatel network if this was the case. We still have lots of capacity on our XCs. The networks are managed very differently. Even though owned by one company.Correct! Maybe something similar occurring now with macedon/Vumatel?
Hi there, you are doing these tests from tour mobile? You need to do so from a cabled device. Wireless noise spikes at peak times and so does interference.@PBCool, I've logged ticket for this, but it takes a day to come back to me, and the problem seems to be in the afternoon/evening.
I have a 100/100 service on Octotel, and I feeld this is unfair, I know it is a home service, but this is not on.

Is a great response, on the active Ethernet side we haven't seen any of this to date to be honest so their capacity management has been good. Crazy thing is they only implemented CWDM within the last 12 months. If you only experience it during those times, and other guys in the same greater region is fine during those times, I have to agree with Pbcool, issue is not with CISP.
What you need to do is, find other people on CISP in your direct immediate area, and do the same tests there. You may find the issue is actually with Vumatel in your direct area. For example what CISP can't see, is the traffic usage in your area, before the data hits the link into CISPs network. 7-11pm slow speeds sounds very much the same as congestion exchange that you would have on ADSL.
Now I know you do get good speeds on local speedtests. Just keep in mind, that there could still be congestion on the links in your direct area, and local speeds will be better, because the lower latency lets those packets through faster than higher latency data.
With ethernet however, even when the link is congested, latency will still look good in traceroutes, so it will be very difficult to tell where the issue is. The only thing CISP can do here, is push Vumatel harder to get insight on the traffic levels on links in your area.
5x 200Mbps lines can max out 1x GIG backhaul link. I am sure, there are more than 5x people on the AG(aggregation point, kinda like an exchange I imagine) you are on.
Even if CISP is doing the best possible support here, its very possible Vumatel is not actually doing something. So even if you move ISP, you may still experience the same issue you have now.
