Well, I also got a black ONT, not Nokia though and the net has been a different beast for me since. Not sure if anything else was done on the line other than the ONT swap but its made a huge difference particularly on my upload speeds. Okay, I'm only really seeing it on the speedtest results and not so much in real world performance.

Yup there is a catch.. the firmware upgrade died and the unit needs TLC with a serial cable to recover. Will do so when there's time. Right now work has a deadline I need to push.

Net install takes but a minute or 2

Just placed an order for the 20/10 uncapped package (openserve). Hope it doesn't take too long to get it up and running :)

Its also k@k slow on Telkom LTE.. again I am picking up a pattern..
Starting to suspect this is an upstream provider or undersea cable provider problem

Surely this would be incredibly obvious to CISP and all ISP's. No I can't believe that. Everyone would be complaining, same if it was a hardware fault.

For instance why am I unable to do twitch or get more than 10mb to london servers during peak yet no one else on Octotel is complaining. It can't be my router, ONT or OLT card because then my local speeds would slow too.

So I don't know what is different, or if this is a once off miracle for tonight, but for the first time since joining CI months ago Twitch is literally perfect. No drops, no buffering with 2 second latency to live.

So I joined Cool Ideas. So far i'm not very impressed :(

I ordered the line, told them i'm moving from **** to Cool Ideas. I just got a response saying I should reply to their message on the 1st so they can contact Vumatel to switch my modem.

They never sent me my login details so far or anything.

I can see tomorrow the 1st is going to come and go and nothing is going to be changed, and even if by some miracle they do contact Vuma on a Saturday, I have no login details for the ISP.

I hope I havent left one problem ISP just to land up joining another problem.

You don’t need login details for Vumatel + CISP. Authorisation is via the ONT and the MAC address of your router (or something like that).

Cool, i'm waiting for them to answer the ticket they told me to log on the 1st to get connected...

Let's see..

Hi.

How does one get support to actually do their jobs?

My Vumatel line has been down for three days and Cool Ideas just chills while I waste 20 minutes of my airtime per call begging them to get some action going.

COOL-20181128-181064

I understand it's line fault but that doesn't mean you are providing me with a free product.

The support at Cool Ideas is simply pathetic.

Paul are you here? This is how faithful customers are lost.

Can I get some feedback here since your support staff don't want to play the game?

My WebAfrica account finally cancelled last night and I am moving to Cool Ideas.

My line is dead now and I logged a ticket early this morning to get back online with Cool Ideas.

The ticket had no response after a couple of Hours. I phoned and the openserve portal is down so they can't take over my line until that's resolved

Just my luck...

You should have stayed put.

The support at Cool Ideas is abysmal!
Absolutely unwilling to assist and give us what we pay for.
If it's not too late, you should just move back!

I'm with Vuma + Cool Ideas. I definitely needed and received login details.

@PBCool... Octotel inform me that the router needs to be at my premises during install, called your helpdesk and they said they only dispatch router once the install is done. Which is the correct one?
They don't need the router to provision a line, do you have any contact or reference from them? Alternatively PM me your account name and I can follow up.

@PBCool I needed to fill the application form on cisp.co.za and my router is on the way (at least the ticket says so). What I'd like to know is: Is it possible to activate the subscription with my own, dusty router without waiting for the one CI is sending?
Yeap for sure so long as it's capable.
