Openserve popped by just now and swapped out my white ONT box for the new black Nokia one. The difference is quite remarkable. Speed tests haven't really gone anywhere - latency might be slightly better. But the difference is clear as day when browsing the web. Websites pop into view instantly and the responsiveness feels like when I first got fibre.

Surely no one on Openserve fibre should be using the old white ONT box.
Well in most situations it's more around whether it's an issue or not, no provider is going to replace a bunch of hardware just for good measure. More around a case by case basis, which is what we have to go through as the ISP.

Hey Paul, still struggling with Openserve to find out what's cracking, do you know if I would be able to find out which provider is "managing" our existing service if I provide you with a B number?

Usually not, it's best to ask Sam to follow up with Openserve if we can. As you can imagine it's confidential information.

How's your iperf test? Mine's still completely fcked!! almost 50 days later... :sleep:

Their response is for me to run more iperf tests. Iperf test after iperf test after iperf test... Vumatel are like, 'well, we've swapped the ONT, that's it, over to you Cool Ideas'. The last 50 days that's been the grand sum of it. Swapped the ONT, over and out... thanks for coming...

I envy that you got a black one. I have a white Nokia one. A black one would've blended better as my PC and other devices are all black, lol.
 
Loaded a ticket at 13:30. Phoned CISP at 17:11, held for 15mins. And only then did someone help. I see PBcool is saying we should phone, but what’s the point of loading tickets then? It’s just a waste of our time if people phoning in are being prioritized!?!?

SUPER frustrating as if the vumatel ticket was loaded during working hours at least I stood half a chance of being helped tomorrow!!!

The native problem with tickets is that they are addressed sequentially, so if there was a network outage the evening before etc this creates a backlog. If you have an urgent issue like a line down, without anything on the notifications page then call.

We came back on after Stage 2 went to Stage 1, and the bloody ONT sync’d. Now before phoning I reset the ONT 3 times, and rebooted my Mik. I was getting LOS. now all of a sudden after load shedding ends I get link up.

Vumatel said it was my line and no one else reported Link Down, so unless people are blatantly lying...... ‍

If I'm not mistaken, you should change the packet size (160M) to 80M (if you have a 100mb line, which I think you do?). Sand_man has a 200mb line :unsure:. You'll get different results (or at least I did with my 100mb OS line).
