I dont have any solution specificly as I am not about to do actual routing testing for each download location but you can see there is some real fluctuations and none of them even come remotely close to my peak 1GB/s speed I can get from host capable of it nevermind even breaking 100MB/s on even one test.

You could try a VPN but I am never really convinced of all their claims but to date guys like nordvpn is apparently trustworthy in no ip/client data logging so perhaps give them a try.

Ok cool, I actually have IPVanish and ExpressVPN but they always seem to reduce my speed.

Just different routes/extra hops added if you are getting slower speed to the same links. Unfortunately it all just points to the hosted data probably located in some 1 man hidden datacenter hosted in some icy non extradition hellhole.

No I mean my overall speed is reduced. When running a Speedtest without VPN it’s full speed, the minute I connect to VPN my speedtest results are much lower. So the VPN actually reduces my overall speed.

Due to the overhead etc on a vpn pretty standard

Its common to get slower speed on VPN services, they do have to do bandwidth shaping and other kinds of things to make sure 1 user on some fatpipe doesn't destroy the full server. VPN encryption and other variables also add to overhead specially the traditional vpn protocols used.

I wish all VPN providers would just switch over to using wireguard. Simple as pie to setup and throughput due to lack of overhead (uses plain jane ssh encryption) makes it fantastic.

My personal VPN service run using wireguard protocol and I get as close to 1:1 performance as I would without using it.

Thanks for the explanation :) how would one go about setting up wireguard? Or I suppose google is my friend haha.

You need your own remote server and local client.

So if you want to dish out top $ and set this up on dedicated server yourself it is rather easy if you have the initial know-how.

I do have this feeling you thought my comment about wireguard is just an app you can install and connect with , thats not how it works though. :)

Well wireguard does sound like an app LOL! Ok cool, I’ll just keep IPVanish.

Well that link is interesting, it fluctuates a lot, but it easily max my 100Mbit line at times, more than makes up for the times it would go slower at 2-3MByte/sec, so as long as your player can buffer quite a bit. If using Kodi, you definitely need to change the default settings for buffering.

Yeah I don't use Kodi though. I use either Cyberflix or CinemaHD with either VLC or MX Player.
