There is definitely "maxing out" happening. My troubles started the day I upgraded to 100/25

Instead from what I've been told its basically up to me and CISP to prove to Octotel that something is wrong, where it is wrong and then beg them to replace it or act on it.

So just to make sure I'm reading this correctly, your complaint is you don't like the idea of contention ratios on an FTTH (Fibre to the Home) product?

Well GPON imo is not a good solution for bandwidth hungry users. OLT has about 2.5Gbps limit per 64 way split. So depending how they worked it out if they load too many high speed users on the OLT then it will start to get congested. I'm not very clued up with GPON and the technology but as far as I could see the only solution is to add more OLT's and reduce the number of users per OLT but that comes at a cost. A cost that Ocotel would need to absorb which they probably won'unless the congestion gets worse.

Look at the cheap prices Octotel charges for 1Gbps... Atomic 1Gbps/25Mbps @ R1649. Crazy just 2 or 3 of these users can flood the OLT making it horrible for the other people on the same OLT.

Im pretty certain the issues is with your Local transit there on Ocotel etc. I for one never have issues on MFN, but if you do switch you will have the same issues. If you do let me know if the problem keeps happening at these peak times

No.

My issue is I want to be able to stream/watch twitch between 6 - 10PM when I get home. I don't give a flying monkey's how that is achieved. Yet here in SA getting that done is like asking ISPs to fetch me a rock from Saturn's moon Titan.

Exactly... I believe the problem to be with Octotel, changing the ISP will achieve nothing

Thank you, so essentially I am better off downgrading to 20/20 and supplementing that either with an ADSL line or installing another line and bonding them together

or going wireless for last mile - I hear the performance is the same as fibre.

Well if a congested OLT on Octotel is the issue. If that is the case latency and packet loss should start early in a trace route. As I mentioned I'm not that clued up so might want to ask for other opinions. I used to be on Aeonova360 (A360) When they installed in the estate they only installed 1 OLT and with uncapped unshaped 100Mbps launched at R899 p/m that time that OLT got congested very quickly. Packet loss was on the very early hops of a trace route. They eventually sorted the issue after 2 month by adding more OLT's to the mix. after that my 100Mbps was probably the best internet I ever had. While the OLT was congested it was the worst I ever had. Can't play games. Downloads were horrible spiking high and low.
 
Like clock work. Twitch buffering starts from 6pm, and will only ease up around 11pm.
 
International speed gone for cr@p, streaming is buffering. Evotel in North Riding. Is there a problem?

Having major issues with packet loss here and with international download speed as well....
