Perhaps some people who post here should rather give informative answers and try help @PBCool determine the root cause of the issue, rather than threats of leaving and how much better other ISP's are...

The rest of us are here trying to find out what the issue is and get it resolved.

On that topic - Netflix streaming last night was terribad - constant quality drops and eventually died around 23:30 completely.

What made ADSL customers a resentful bunch appears to hold true for fibre too. IE congestion, best effort service and no one taking accountability when things go pear shaped. Default stance is ISP blaming infrastructure provider, whomever that might be... and infrastructure provider blaming ISP...

Looking through the 1000s of posts you will see very clearly that people are posting speed tests, trace routes and so forth to inform of what they experience. One can do this only so much before frustration kicks in.

What seems apparent now is that it's not getting addressed and that things are getting worse. Like @sand_man said the same old rinse and repeat problem is happening. A highly rated ISP with good service delivery growing so much and getting loads of users onboard and then their service degrades due to capacity issues and then people jump ship and the ISP never hits their highs again.

Fully agree

It also doesn't help when you log a ticket with CISP on a Monday night and support responds on the Wednesday afternoon asking you to do a spredtest and tracert....

Customers are going to get frustrated when CISP only responds when they aren't congested

This is what is happening... I agree.
I am trying to figure out who is to blame, using my own network connection as a tool to find the issue.
To be very honest here, given the info in the thread, the problem seems to be widespread across all the FISPs.. which makes me wonder if Cool Ideas is being really honest when they say "We have no network issues"

And yes something broke last night. I had to reset the ONT and the router because sites abruptly stopped working, on the reboot all was well again but the speeds since, have been lackluster.

Indeed... these service providers don't care... not one f**k given. Like I said before, decent stable internet... if you want it, better get that passport ready and emigrate.

Was this around 11pm? I also had to reboot my router twice to get it going again. Was connected - just no throughput.

I agree; all fibre providers are having some issue these days - I swear Telkom ADSL was 1000 times better - consistent 2Mbps without any outage..:ROFL:

I didn't reboot router - but had issues around 11pm as well..

Mine was around 9:20pm.. tried to buy stuff from pwned games and the site just disappeared, when I reloaded I got "There is No Internet Connection"

Have you tried connecting the ONT directly to your pc?

Your network card could be faulty...

I've done all that, and more- I even discovered an incompatibility on the DASAN ONT.
When it comes to p1ssp00r international speeds, I can assure you, the problem does not lie on any of the pieces of equipment on this property. The problem is outside, and I can only speculate and try and give educated guesses as to where.
A final word on this- I note that PBCool is here less and less often... and this corresponds with people saying their tickets are being ignored... That's already a sign of the slide into the abyss.. I might have to jump ship soon if this doesn't improve.

Well, @PBCool what is the plans @ CISP to fix this issue everyone is having? I would be surprised if CISP would be highly rated at the next mybroadband survey and if this continues seeing people jump to another ISP.

Blanket statements like this saying everyone has an issue is just wrong, there are so many people without issues including myself, but only negativity is shown on forums. If you feel you are getting a bad service vote with your wallet. My 0.002 cents

I was trying to be sarcastic.

I am frustrated beyond belief when you send them tests proving where there is packet loss or **** throuput and they start trying to diagnose errors on my equipment

I have been down this road before, with, let's see:
Afrihost
MWEB
NexusISP / Internet Solutions
Axxess
Cybersmart

I know when an ISP is trying to BS me.. So I do the tests once and if it proves to be them, no second chance, they get the ultimatum. This time CISP were lucky, I found an issue which I addressed at a cost to me, but now, they need to get it together and explain to us what is going on with international speeds.

There are many of us with no issues. My internet works 24/7 without issue. With new baby I find myself up at all kinds of times and the internet is 1 thing not giving me issues.

I stream, download and also play games. All of just works. In fact, every time I download a torrent the speed still amazes me, because no shaping. I love it.

Cisp international is doing fine.

I do believe however cisp is experiencing growing pains, and there more issues to follow up on than their staff can manage right now. Mostly not their fault.

Local stream or via VPN?
