What I really don't understand is that you have a 100/25 and for you to be degraded in such a way that you are getting less than 1Mbps why is your latency still that low?

His latency shouldn't play a role if its congestion/shaping/throttling/younameit. Even with packetloss he could still be seeing a relatively decent average ping.

With basic few packets to test latency even a 512K connection over same routing would get the same latency response until actual server/game data is added then the 512K connection latency will skyrocket.

Was latency to any EU gaming server up the wall for anyone else this weekend, especially last night. Still getting high latency since about a week ago. Last night also trying to download anything from an EU server was absolutely terrible. Was not even running at 10% of my line speed where i normally get about 70-100% of my line speed to EU servers for download.

I am on Vumatel and my latency to EU was only good on Saturday, then yesterday it went for a ball of shyte back to 190-200 ping all day long instead of 150-160.

Twitch buffers continuously.

The only thing that works well is Netflix and Youtube.

I wish we can just get to a point where gaming and twitch streaming is stable. From what I can gather on this page is that a lot of Cool Ideas clients use them due to them having a reputation for being great for gaming, streaming with no throttling etc but honestly my gaming experience was a lot more stable when I was still with another ISP and running on Openserve. :(

Because they are local.

I've been sitting with international Speedtest results of less than 1Mbps since November during peak times. This peak time window has been increasing over time and my Speedtest have gotten even worse and more frequent.

At first this was only on international but I have now recently experienced the same happening on local traffic as well.

I'm honestly fedup with this poor service. I think I'm going to be dropping my 20mb line to a 10mb until this gets resolved and drop it to 4mb if it doesn't improve over the next 2 months. No point in paying for a service that can't be delivered.

I'm paying good money and receiving not even a fraction of the international speed that I'm supposed to get.

The connection is also up and down throughout the night, loosing connectivity completely. Not sure how a company with no support can be ranked #1 - definitely don't see a repeat of that.

Openserve is actually rock solid for me. I max my 200Mbps line no matter the time with Supersonic. Pity about local latency because it's like 2-3ms higher than Vumatel probably because of IPC.

One would think that Openserve because of the expensive IPC they would be the worst fibre provider but so far 2 ISP's has been really good with Openserve for me although I have not tested CISP yet just because their 200Mbps is crazy expensive. To compare the 200Mbps cool ideas Openserve data only account is the same price I pay for the Line and uncapped data.

Ohh yeah and the fact that with Openserve you are just a pppoe dial away from using another ISP is always pretty epic especially if the ISP is having some issues.

Hi @PBCool

If possible could you look into "#COOL-20190119-204532 "

I have logged a support ticket, when running speedtest to your randburg offices, I only get 18/2mb on a 50/5mb line.
It also reflects my ISP as mweb, i am unable to stream most services, or even use simple Remote Services for work and require this to be resolved as a metter of urgency.
My wifi is more than capable of supporting my linespeeed, I have submitted both speedtest from mobile over wifi and speedtest over cable from PC results.

These speeds have been consistent for the last few days regardless of any peak periods.

I have to agree. OpenServe has been great for me too. Sadly though, like most things telkom owned it is always great when it works... But when something goes wrong, oh boy better strap in for the long haul because they are not in a hurry to fix problems.

Yeah it's the whole Openserve way though. Installation was quick because it was a contractor that did the installation. So the contractor does the work as fast as possible to get paid by Openserve. once it's installed and there is a fibre break or issue then openserve technicians needs to respond first and that takes long because it probably follows the same queue as adsl line faults. Delays delays delays. When it works it works well though so I hope a flock of birds don't decide to comes and sit on the fibre line. I would say my line is probably hanging like 25m+ from the pole with just the black casing it came with so very fragile.
