Hi,

Ticket ID: COOL-20181224-192717

Hi,

I have not had internet access since 24th December 2018

Numerous emails and phone calls have failed to get this right.

Support is terrible.

Openserve is actually rock solid for me. I max my 200Mbps line no matter the time with Supersonic. Pity about local latency because it's like 2-3ms higher than Vumatel probably because of IPC.

One would think that Openserve because of the expensive IPC they would be the worst fibre provider but so far 2 ISP's has been really good with Openserve for me although I have not tested CISP yet just because their 200Mbps is crazy expensive. To compare the 200Mbps cool ideas Openserve data only account is the same price I pay for the Line and uncapped data.

Ohh yeah and the fact that with Openserve you are just a pppoe dial away from using another ISP is always pretty epic especially if the ISP is having some issues.

Well i was with an other ISP cause that whole 5-11 PM uselessness thing, switch to Cool Ideas and all was good for a few weeks and now that happens on Cool Ideas as well. So i guess switching does not help. But even with that during the day or weekends my Latency was perfect. Its only now since last week Monday where the latency is messed up and yesterday any downloading was messed up not only after 5 PM like normal.

Well with Openserve it's easy. Change the pppoe details to another ISP and check how it performs so you know who to point finger at. If it's the ISP then well if it does not get fixed changing might be the only option and if it's the fibre network (Openserve in this case) then changing ISP's won't do anything.

Looks like the only way to get them to actually acknowledge you is on social media.

Yes, it's the Monitoring graph in the Status menu.

I don't have a local VPN to test with but I don't see how it would help as my packet loss is happening at the first hop outside my home network.
because another use here is having the same issue from first hop which then got "fixed" by using a vpn, which points to shaping IMHO.

Received this sms from Vumatel just now.
As heroes maintaining a network uptime of 99.9% we need to fly around all suburbs in the city to audit and maintain our network. For the next few days well be flying around your neighbourhood keeping the 'woema' in your VUMA fibre. Feel free to chat to one of our caped crusaders or visit www.vumatel.co.za to find out more about VUMA Fibre.
What exactly does this mean?
