My fibre line went down at 4pm today, I have a Cool Ideas line (with Metrofibre). Anyone else experiencing issues?

Edit: I've logged a call with support who has forwarded the query on to Metrofibre. Cool Ideas have no idea  when the line will be up or what the issue is.

CISP came to my house to install a router with a new IP address (plugged into the CPE next to my own router) so they can try work out what is causing the **** experience.

Awesome kudos. Now to try to get them to communicate with me.... (not cool)

We will need some time to diagnose, please pm me your account details.

This will be logged with MFN, please let me know if you are having trouble getting the line resolved.

They did respond today.

Apparently latency spikes due to lack of international capacity.

I really do appreciate the effort CISP has shown in fixing this problem.

There is no lack in international capacity, please give me the ticket number? Latency would possibly increase by 10ms or so as IS uses Seacom for most of their transit.

I am quoting your staff.

"Our seniors have done some tests over the last 3 days, and the issue seems related to our international capacity.

The core engineers are busy implementing additional international links that will hopefully make latency more stable."

I still have no feedback on what the issue is or when it will be fixed. It has been close to 24hrs with no feedback. I switched to Cool Ideas only a week ago, this is really frustrating.

Yeah, performance has been a bit off for me the last week or so. Seed box and torrents around 40% of max line speed unless multi threaded... Premium file sharing sites too... way off...

Would you mind running and sharing a winmtr (do at least 100 packets)

Something strange happening right at this moment.

Coolideas international close to dead ?

Getting 2Mbit to london and just about the same to USA , international seems wrecked.

Locally same issue, max I get is 18Mbit.

PBCool, is it the same issue that you need to restart vumatel interface ?

Well seem to have be resolved after 10minutes, still curious if it were same problem or something else that you guys were aware of before my message here.

Not a big fan of situations that is not planned. :)

The latency spikes within CISP network is getting worse

Yes, I had the same deadness here... DNS was not resolving at all.

Which brings me to another interesting point - the DNS servers provided by Cool Ideas are slower than if I set up the router to use Google DNS. I often have to wait on a page, with "Resolving host..." in Chrome's status bar. I thought I was imagining this - but I switched back from Google DNS around 16:30 when things were not working, and now I have the "Resolving host" showing up again.

Please PM me a trace to the DNS server you are using. We track DNS resolution performance and don't see anything out of normal level.

If your local and international have issues it's more than likely a line or fibre provider issue. Remember local and international traffic operate independent of each other.
