I find it amusing that people keep putting the blame on Octotel - but don't see many complaints to them on social media, which, if they are solely responsible, doesn't really help matters as you also don't see the ISPs doing much.

I'm coming to terms with having shyte internet again.

Back when I had ADSL/VDSL, Telkom used to do the exact same thing as to whats happening to Ocotel now. Since it was easy to swap I played the ISP musical chairs game, none changed anything, none assisted me in resolving the issue so I sat with useless internet in the evenings day in and day out. Its been over 4 years since I've been able to stream twitch reliably in the evening. Ignoring the honeymoon period from Octotel of course. Back then it looked like congestion too so my assumption is that everyone who was congesting Telkom's network in my area did what I did and swapped to Octotel who are now congested. My experience with playing ISP musical chairs has taught me it won't change anything, backed up by a few users here who have changed and seen no tangible improvement, so I don't plan on playing that game again. No ISP can force a FLP to spend money to fix problems if the FLP doesn't want to.

This is just what internet is in SA.

How is the troubleshooting going with the other isp though? Making progress?

So tried to sign up with supersonic.. But seems I first have to cancel with CISP... Supersonic have a try before you buy "deal". So thougt I could just get a PPPoE user for this month to try... But no. Need to cancel first..

For past 2 weeks have been having to phone CISP every 2nd day... Local fast (sorry about the huge screenshot earlier) :P

But also thinking moving won't work, since issue is my ONT I suspect. Was replaced 2 weeks ago and since then just issues. LOL. If I plug in directly in the ONT, I get DHCP from another user on Metrofibre! LOL

For real.. I can access their Huawei Router they use for PPPoE.. (pity they changed the default user and pass, ELSE I could at least tel CISP who is cross patched with my line...) :P

Also when I the then dialout directly through the ONT can't ping, tracert. But CISP sees my PPPoE session their side..

Yeah sometimes this is a bit frustrating. They are trying. BUT I do agree. The ticket system sucks. Just says "Answered". Have to keep phoning to find out what is happening. It is a bit frustrating @TheRoDent and @PBCool so please try to get something more consumer friendly?

Random thought: Get them to install to a new point? Installation is included in their offer, so you might as well?

First time I am having issues with twitch in over 2 months, Vumatel trenched Moseley, Durban.

Twitch is bad every single night and CISP just blame everything else except themselves even though it works perfect on other isps. Also you need to use live.twitch.tv for mtr.

The experience was marginally better - but still the same Octotel experience. Difference being they actively worked with me to get results to send to Octotel.

(This was only till Thursday, I've been away, so remained on their network until I could change back today)

Also leaving as soon as the ADSL is up and running. Complaining here is making me look like an ******* and I’d rather just use that energy for something positive

How's your connection tonight? Mines ok.

This was just from my cell:
Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/4642339371
I am chatting on Telegram and here mostly not using the net because it usually sucks. The snarky answer I got from CISP today really pissed me off also, in response to me telling them Octotel is feeding them mushrooms in the dark.

I did some testing over the weekend... or comparison rather.... I experienced buffering the entire week at my place... on Saturday it was still buffering... went to my bros place and watched the same things that I couldn't and it was much better... was some buffering but nothing unbearable.... got home and watched the same stuff again... or tried to rather and the buffering was crazy... we have all the same hardware except for the router... he is on cell c and I'm on cisp and were both on vuma. I'm in randburg and he is in honeydew.... maybe it was coincidental.... I dont know.... all I can say is that mines is just as bad today as it was on Friday...

Something interesting to note. I tried doing a MTR to live.twitch.tv and saw this:

Not going to post the rest as they all "No response from host."

I found it odd that I was getting twitch content from South American via the US.

At this point I remembered I was using Cloudflare's DNS, so I switched back to CISP and:

Packet loss is still there however I am now able to hold a twitch stream with no buffering.

29 Jan Twitch 936PM.jpg

Although the graph isn't perfect its still managing 1000+ kB/s pretty consistently which is allowing me to watch twitch with minimal buffering. This was done at 9:30PM so during peak time.
