I have a question, if we (CISP/Octotel customers) have the same issues, and you guys log tickets, why can’t CISP see we have a huge issue, send a bulk mail to all of us, and get this problem resolved once and for all?

I mean it is in the best interest of the company names / reputation to have happy customers, now we all complain, blame get shifted or we get no answers.

This time arround I didn’t log any tickets, I figured if so many has issues it will be solved quickly.

Two years back me and a other forum member did so many tests togheter with Vox and CISP to proof what the SPs should do, and my problem were fixed.

This service should be FTTB, as it work awsome in business hours.

I can understand that couple of years back with ADSL, the avg connection at home were 4Mbps, and now all of a sudden 100. 100 is the old 4, so to have overseas bandwidth at a all inclusive price can be a issue.

Why doesn’t CISP impliment a QOS policy that in peak evening and weekend hours that you get 100% of your local traffic, and X% of international.

I wouldn’t mind if my 100Mbps get pushed down to 20, then my streaming would still work great, and the other users on the network can also enjoy good service.

If the bandwith internationally is available and factored into the cost, then we want 95% of what we pay for.

I know PBCool were out of action, but I didn’t really saw any replies to this issue. I saw someone on Twitter were answered about the downtime at 1am, but we at MyBB didn’t get a good explenation.

We live in a tech age, use it to give good service, write a program users can install on their machines, that pull reports and upload results to central DB, and then you have a overview of area and problems, and pinpoint the issue and resolve with upstream provider. I am sure even someone on MyBB would code that for free if CISP provide VM.

This ticket system story is so lastyear.

I’m in the support world as well, man 3 ticket systems, and my customers get answered in shortest possible time, and no longer than 3 hours, and get daily updates, open tickets irretate me, I want to get it solved, and you can’t solve them when customer isn’t happy.

PBCool, can we all work togheter quickly and get to the heart of this problem, look at the options, and impliment a solution that will work for all of us.

Most people aren’t technical, they just want their internet to work.

I for one find it difficult to be an brand ambasidor for you if you let us down.

My argument is that surely CISP can see the problem. They must have some kind of network monitoring and can actively see the issue at night.
Its either they are playing "RED ALERT- STAATSGEHEIM" and keeping their mouths shut, or they are being given mushrooms in the dark by the FISP

I'm sure they know there is an issue. Roelf asked for the spreadsheet to be filled out. They are gathering info to take to the FLP as evidence that there is a problem. CISP knows there is an issue, and I'm sure they are working in the background to resolve it.

My only gripe on your behalf ( coz i dont have the same issues you see ) , is the lack of feedback. I think this can be better.

Here we go.. nearly midday... struggling to load images on Telegram, Whatsapp... and certain elements on pages on MyBB also fail to load.
Telkom... how long must I wait for landline?

I would love to see the look on this telkom sales person face...
wait wait, hold up. This guy has fibre, but wants ADSL line... huh?

We do what we have to do to earn the bacon hey.. When the internet is part of earning a living... you get my drift...:)

Am assiting someone in getting fibre on Octotel in Sea Point, Cape Town. The physical line was already installed so its time to pick an ISP. Cool Ideas was getting a lot of good feedback here a while back (especially in the Sea Point fibre thread), but these latest posts here don't sound promising?

It seems the 4 best options (based on anecdotal MyBB comments) are: Cool Ideas, Vanilla, RSAWeb and Atomic.

Does anyone know who may be the best option?

Cool Ideas... but they seem powerless to do anything about Octotel's over-subscription

I foresee us heading back to the ages where you got a 30GB local account on the cheap and a secondary proxy service (or scoured the interwebs for a free/open one) to provide you with international bandwidth...

Just to be clear here the issue myself, Artyloop and most of the others on Octotel are experiencing is a result of Octotel, not CISP. If the person you're helping is getting Octotel there's a chance it won't matter what ISP they get.

My only real complaint about CISP is their slow/lack of feedback and their support ticket system is a large part of that.

Time to bust out route sentry! You might also need more than 30gb with youtube and netflix being hosted locally now days.

Thanks for the clarity.

Well, poor communication seems like a prime reason to avoid a particular provider.. are they any better than the others?

Wonder what other ISP's suffering on Octotel network are doing to resolve? Wonder if ICASA isn't an option for both customers and ISP's to try and force corrective action out of Octotel?

I am wondering why PBCool hasn't at least popped in to try and calm the shytestorm

I'm sure they are hard at work collecting evidence to use against or assist the fibre providers to sort out their issues. I'm sure it is no trivial task, if it was it would have been sorted long time ago.
