I consider myself a fair person which is why every person who asks about CISP here I tell them my issue is with Octotel NOT CISP. I try to make that distinction very clear. My biggest issue with CISP is still their lackluster ticket system.

I continue to post my speedtest results here in the hope that I will get some kind of response from someone, even if its via PM. I just want to know whats going on, even if its that "we don't know, we're looking into it." I understand people aren't perfect and stuff doesn't get fixed instantly so time is needed but I still require someone to tell me its being looked into or at the very least they are aware of it.

The last piece of communication I got was "fill in the excel sheet when you have issues." With everyone leaving is there even a point to that now?

Yeah man I hear you...I feel for you guys

Damn, so is Cool Ideas not providing support via MyBB anymore then?

I'm not having issues on Openserve, but when forum support jumps ship it's never a good sign for an ISP.

Not saying that, just wondering out loud

Maybe you are lucky or maybe Openserve is actually good compared to Vuma, Octotel and the rest.. Who knows.
I know vumatel had a major issue on line speeds and they had to increase the prices as well not sure what is going on with them lately

Could be....If Openserve ever does go live where I live now, I would consider going back to them and my old ISP.

Yeah, a lot of people criticize Openserve for being expensive (which they are, I'll admit that too), however, they provide much more flexibility with regards to ISP choice, should your current provider experience problems.

^^ This ^^

More transparency even just on the cool zone to what is happening / not happening to your case would be a huge improvement...

But to be fair they do try very hard. Unfortunately they are a link in the chain and until you "break out" of the network to their side, there can be issues. Also after you leave "their part" it is up to the transit providers to route you.. Yeah Internet has become congested.

Still some feedback is always "nice". Other ISP has a whatsap business number.. Must say I LOVE that.. #NudgeNudge

Bit off topic but any of you gents switched from another ISP to CISP on MetroFibre? Just asked them to switch me over but eta for an ONT swap is 2-3 weeks...that seems very very bad as i have no backup internet for this coming 2-3 weeks Fibre line is fully installed and was active with old ISP (Still is till end of the month).

Anyone have any more insight?

Thanks!

Not sure if anyone has seen but on the CISP website they say:

Cool Ideas - International Traffic

Our upstream provider will be performing scheduled maintenance on the WACS international link; during this time, traffic will be re-routed and there will be increased latency on international traffic.

Date and Time:

31 January 2019 22:00 - 23:00
Impact: increased latency.

https://coolzone.cisp.co.za/index.php?rp=/announcements/775/Cool-Ideas---International-Traffic.html

I'm assuming this mostly affects people in Cape Town (I doubt JHB would get routed through WACS beyond using it as a backup) but it might explain people's increased latency to EU.

Like clock work, twitch is useless. Back to Vox backup account where it streams perfectly.

Mnn that does not sound right. The ONT is Metrofibre's so need to swop out.

Basically you might need to send the other router back to the other Isp but if you own the router... You just change your PPPoE username and pass. It does take a few hours (basically overnight) to change from "ISP" to CISP. But your other ISP needs to release the line to CISP first.

3 weeks sounds crazy (Maybe other ISP is stalling)?

As i understand it. My current ONT can only do Layer3 routing, CISP's ONT does Layer2 only current ISP is Fox Link the line is already cancelled and last i heard from CISP is that its pending ONT SWAP and that is where the 3 weeks time frame came from. 3 weeks just to switch out an ONT seems kinda fubar. I have my own router a USG and/or Mikrotik RB3011-UiASM if it needs to be used.

Packet loss still around however second day in a row I've been able to maintain a twitch stream during peak time since ditching Cloudflare DNS and using CISPS DNS:

Gosh I'm glad I figured that out.

I don't think their support jumped shipped. Just too many support (on and off this forum) requests to handle. Support has beem below average for a while now, so with recent issues it's not really suprising. Two directors with responsibilities other than supporting the forum, just does not scale.

But what do I know. A couple of pages ago I was critizied for "moaning" unnecessarily, because directors give support on this forum.

Probably todo with PBCool being sick or still recovering however even so you'd normally have another person take over. It seems that without PBCool the strings isn't getting pulled. He seems to be the main fixer behind the scenes. This has been the case with my tickets; where support failed, he stepped in and fixed it.

Hopefully this isn't the start of the downwards trend...

So restarted my PPPoE session and got a 102 address. I know it's CISPs new range but gosh it's unstable. Pings are all over the place. Where my smokeping to Google DNS in JHB used to be a flat line now it's spiking all over the place. Horrible.

@PBCool this is a connection to TERRAR4.coolideas in CPT. TERRAR3.coolideas was more stable
