Some people REALLY need to stop blaming backhaul providers because CISP is saying so. This is the first thing ISP’s try convincing their customers if their services are starting to go to s:@t! There is effol wrong with the backhaulers. Since I’ve been on CISP with my 100meg the service has gone down weekly. KODI buffering constantly, downloads of small files downloading slow etc. Im with OS and in my kompleks MANY other residents with CISP complaining. Residents on Axxess, VOX etc are not complaining at all.

A mate that lives in a kompleks that has VUMA backhaul same thing. Everyone on CISP in their kompleks are constantly complaining on their whatsapp group. Peeps on VOX, Axxess etc no complaints.

I used my buddy’s VOX Account details to test at my house and OMW what a huge effing difference. 4 people in my house streaming NO issues. I downloaded the lates O365 installation on friday and it took almost an hour on CISP. After changing to VOX i re downloaded this as a test in under 5 minutes.

Stop listening to the BS CISP is feeding you okes man!!

Must be the R499 deal saturating IPC.

Been streaming Fox News In HD the whole day while hubby watched sport. Two streams at same time.
These tests on my phone while I am sitting outside and inside still streaming, somebody fixed something for me, upload still not right.

Thats the thing!! If you’ve over subscribed your services then you know what have the balls to admit it to your customers and tell them you’re busy rectifying the issue and to please bare with you instead of pointing the finger to back haulers.

The noobs coming here are eating it up like there’s no tomorrow.

Cheers CISP... expect my notice in the morning. Back to VOX where i use to have my 40meg ADSL for 5 years with not a days issue.

Packet loss still been seen here on CISP 100/100 Octotel Westbeach.

Called the CISP Support center on Saturday and complained about heavy packet loss on my 100/50 Openserve line. Was told CISP does not "deal" with packet loss and I need to call Openserve. Needless to say I just asked for a ticket to be logged anyway as I am sure someone more educated might be able to assist.

Yet, here I am at almost 3 AM and barely able to watch a 720p stream on twitch.

xD

So on Open Serve (check), no mention of posts in the SAME thread that CISP is waiting on capacity upgrade from Open Serve (check), no mention of CISP already stating that they already put in scheduled upgrade requests because it takes so long for OS to action (check), no reference of ticket being logged (check) no reference of calling support and speaking to actual person (check) has a little rant and storms off (check) …

I find lately with my CISP account 100/50 on Open Serve that Youtube and Kodi is buffering. What the hell is going on. Is CISP over committed on their services?

F.Y.I. for my fellow "Noobs" good read on the explanation (from 2015) re back haul provers vs access network providers from 2015
https://mybroadband.co.za/news/broa...who-control-the-internet-in-south-africa.html

Also good explanation re SA ISP networks and transit providers

Hey reading is hard, ranting is not.

I'm getting 26ms - no idea if that's normal though.

Definitely capacity issues on OS. Only hope is to keep on asking @PBCool to look into for us. He did manage to get them to upgrade the capacity early December last year, but I'm afraid it seems that the OS network is due for more capacity it seems (I might be wrong though).

I feel for you Octotel/OS peeps, my Vumatel line is chugging along nicely!

With all due respect.. I've spent enough time sitting with Paul to know the problem is not in their network. Its Octofail, in my case!

You're 100% wrong.
If there was a CISP issue, then there's no way I'd still be pulling torrents at line speeds.

Yeah, if it was a CISP issue it would affect other stuff that seems, to, despite all odds, keep working

Finally, the truth emerges and its what we suspected.
Can we now get an honest answer as to when Octotel plan to pull the finger out their backside about this, or is it about money?

I spoke to the Octotel CTO, and the info I received was as above. I will follow up today to find out if the upgrade has been processed.
