International is pretty darn dire...

Frogfoot 100/100

iperf3 --verbose --port 17001 -c trcvmh01.cisp.co.za --bandwidth 80M -l 1400 --omit 2 -R -u

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Test Complete. Summary Results:
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth Jitter Lost/Total Datagrams
[ 4] 0.00-10.00 sec 95.5 MBytes 80.2 Mbits/sec 0.250 ms 2240/71444 (3.1%)
[ 4] Sent 71444 datagrams
[SUM] 0.0-10.0 sec 714 datagrams received out-of-order
CPU Utilization: local/receiver 19.4% (7.6%u/11.8%s), remote/sender 0.9% (0.1%u/0.8%s)

A metric ton of these: iperf3: OUT OF ORDER - incoming packet = 79297 and received packet = 79337 AND SP = 4

@PBCool @theratman any idea what's going on?

PS: the wife is complaining about response on facebook, pintrest, etc when browsing on her ipad - internet experience is now worse than it was on 40/20 ISPAfrika+Openserve+Crystal Web

Thanks for posting this.

It's so easy for things to go into the negative and I really appreciate the fact that people do post positive experiences. Posts like this make me happy.

I wish I could make this happen for every single one of our clients. But dang, it get's me down sometimes....

Out of order packets are OK. Packet loss, is not OK.

Just try bypass it and dial with a PC directly, will give you an idea. Alternatively try set the MTU to 1480 on the Netgear and if there is an option for clamping make sure it's enabled
I connected a new router and all the problems have been resolved. which leads me to believe that there is something wrong on the Netgear router.

I think your problem might be the highlighted bit... I have no love for netgear routers, never had any success with them.

You guys are more than welcome to build your own network down here in Cape Town. :)

After seeing what maintenance of Frogfoot's network can do when they moved us to new hardware, I'm convinced that 99% (if not 100%!) of slow international speeds posted here are related to the fibre providers, and not due to CISP's network.

The weird thing is, my suburb here in Bloem has only had Fibre for 6 months - why they installed insufficient networking hardware from the start baffles me. Maybe they weren't expecting so many people to sign up? Hopefully the two terabits/s will be enough for a while :)

What is the plan, out of curiosity, for clients you cannot get right?
I am asking because I'd like to be able to get some sort of closure on this.
