If you think 300GB is obscene, then we need to bring you into the digital age. Just buying a couple games on steam and generous use of Netflix/Deezer/YouTube you can breach that. Not hard at all. Especially with multiple users.

True, one game on the PS4 averages about 40gig's in size, and that is not even the big ones, then you play online as well. While other people are streaming and you sit with huge data usage.

Heaven knows on my 20mb/s line, I am easily breaking 300gig, and that is without the downloads, just gaming and streaming

Also, why in the hell would I want my ISP to dictate to me when I am allowed to download stuff o_O and why do I need to go through the hassle of scheduling downloads to happen between certain hours? Heaven know, that is telkom thinking there, set to screw the customer

So reading the comments here seems like I'm paying exorbitant amounts for my 4Mbps line and I'm the one getting ripped off!

Uncapped 4Mbps Down, 512 Kbps upload ADSL package R797 + Telescum Line rental R210 for a grand total of R1007

Yet getting a Uncapped/Unshapped 100Mbps down with 50Upload for R999 is a major rip off?

Telkom's Fibre offering R1599.00 for a 100Mbps line 200gig cap over a 24 month period...

I disagree 300gigs of data for me is 1.5 - 2 weeks of use and I have a 10 meg line. I stream all my TV either through DSTV app or other sources, so considering Netflix consumes around 3gigs per hour of watching in 1080p and the TV is on for an average for 4 hours a day whether someone is watching or not, that is 360gigs just on the TV for a month.

Often with the TV on I'll go watch Youtube or play a game which consumes extra gigs.

So comparing a 300 gig package to a package where 2TB is a realistic option is like apples and a all you can eat buffet.

With the speed of 100mb/s instead of getting a movie in 1-2 mins you get it in 3-4 mins really what difference does it make.
It depends. I can only eat a few apples so the buffet is a waste of money for me. I makes business sense to offer lower use packages at higher speed to those that want it. It may not suit you to get something quicker when you need it but to those that don't download a lot it's certainly of help.

You download a lot and we get that. In that case go for a package that suits your personal needs. It doesn't change that these capped packages are still cheaper for those that go for them because they don't need more.

What is acceptable use on the uncapped packages? 1TB? What happens after reaching this amount?

I can honestly say, I have not been throttled every. the first month I went well over 1TB of data, and no throttling. In fact on Cool Ideas, you can't even track your usage!

Yet...Wait till everyone on MyBB and their mothers join the ISP.

And at the moment, they are changing the way ISP's operate, by offer true uncapped products. If you are going to judge them on your pre-conceived version of the future, and thus decide to stay with your current ISP offering capped products, then don't come crying as things aren't changing. Only way things will change is if people vote with their feet, and go to ISP's that does things differently.

Lol hold your horses. I've already applied for their 50/50 package just waiting for the fibre to be installed.

Just a general theme of ISP's going to the dogs as the MyBB hordes migrate to greener pastures like a swarm of locusts. Once the ISP's resources has been sucked dry the swarm descends on another unwitting ISP.

We welcome the swarms :)

@PBCool I am thinking of upgrading from my 20/20 package to a 50/50 package.

Must I do it on the VUMA portal, or can you guys do it for me?

Either way but far easier for you to do it via the Vuma portal.

Fully agree, in our household 300gig is the monthly minimum average when the kids are on school holidays. Hardly anything is downloaded any more most of the usage is YouTube/Netflix/DSTV/Kodi/Tunein Radio etc.....

I say if its not uncapped then its not real internet, their should not be a limit on the amount of data you choose to use in any one month. Speed is what you should be paying for not the data usage.
