Sure please do, or drop me a mail on paul at cisp.co.za

Thanks, was all answered via email yesterday morning. Hoping to sign up with Cool Ideas come Monday. Just a side question, do I need to sign up on both the Vuma portal as well as needing to fill in the application form before it gets activated?

Yes unfortunately as it stands you register on 2 systems, Vuma to provision and ours to register.

PBCool, so as far as I can tell in this very highly marketed FTTH space with all the very many options from all the different players, all the various packages you have to offer are uncapped and the choice is based on speed? (not data usage)?

Believe me, Data usage cannot even be tracked, unless you use your own device to track it. And my speed is constant

Great news. I can't understand how some ISP's are offering capped at the same price as uncapped. Truthfully the vast majority of users won't even reach a cap of 300-400gb IMO, so why place a limit and make it seem like the customer is getting less for their money? Yes, you'll get a few guys using 1-2TB of data, but surely if your goal is to become a large ISP, you can handle subsidising such users. Are you on Cool Ideas?

PBCool, what are the contention ratios like? I fully understand the line can't be perfect or constantly at full speed at all times, but would just like to get an idea. Also, when I spoke to the Cool Ideas representative at the open day, he said that if you get a 50mb line, you can expect about 37-38mb international line speed. Is that right?

Yeah, I am on Cool Ideas, using their 20/20 package, and it is brilliant.

Yeap that is correct, we don't really have a contention ratio. We just monitor all our international and local links then just upgrade if we start reaching the ceiling of the respective service. When you have enough subscribers contention ratio is not a major thing because a handful of customers don't really make a major impact on the network. So better to just monitor the total capacities.

WOW, talk about service, speedtest show it is on 50/50 :D And that is only 5 minutes later
Yeah 15min Max generally, the Vumatel system has to re-provision you to the new bandwidth profile

We are adjusting these accounts to 100/100 as fibrehoods has advised there is lots of capacity available on the upload side.

SICK!!!!! Can't wait till Fibrehoods comes to Glenhazel/Lyndhurst! Apparently by the end of the year. I hope it will be sooner then that!

Hey PBCool

Any chance of near future download speed increases?

I see I'm getting 100/100 down, and I'm extremely happy!

Thank you!
