CRICKET SA vs England

Yeah, I agree. The book is a great read and it sheds a lot of light on the man.

ya KP is arrogant to such an extent that he's likeable+he's VERY fohckin talented.

Generally

I think the tag "chockers" are dished out often these days. India has been called chockers by the media recently, even Aus was called chockers.

We have not lost a test or ODI series in about 18 months, i think, might be wrong, but am pretty sure its fact. So dont see where we could have chocked.

What would the current team have to do then, for you to argue against the chockers tag?

I am a KP fan.

sorry to hear, you have my condolences...:D

I also wanna see the Hansie movie ;)
I am in it  As one of the kids in the crowd when he comes to watch the affies game...
And a friend of mine, same grade, class, desk etc for those of you sceptics is the hansie at school!
I have just pretty much given away my school....

You joking?!! That's fantastic!! Yeah I think we all know Hansie went to Grey Bloem... Probably the best school in SA and I would imagine in the worlds top 100... gotta be...

I tell you what I feel for Hansie's family... They seem like such fine people. Hansie too, what a great leader and cricketer he was, I don't care for his sins, that's the Lords domain, but the entertainment and pleasure of watching him play cricket?!!! Words cannot describe.. He was such a fine exponent of the game and I really miss him....

It saddens me to remember his last few years, his book saddens me, this movie will sadden me... I hope his family is well......

No jokes. I would say one of the best, there are other good schools out there and every school has its problems but I think the way we get through them is what puts at the top. For interests sake Grey is actually a government school. It took 2 days to shoot all the scenes at school, the one at the rugby field where everyone stood up and applauded him. That actually really happened but I wasnt in high school then, I was still next door in primary school :D and the scenes in hall. All the scenes are true. One of the more glamourous moments in my school career but we have also had a few lows...

Wasn't Alan Donald there too?

Nope, HTS I think. Also in bloem
Hansie, Kepler Wessels, Nicky Boje, Boeta Dippenaar - SA cricketers that I can think of. Many more provincially.
Rugby - Need I start? :D Interesting fact: Frans steyn was in matric when I was in grade 8
Swimming - Just Ryk Neeethling that I know of.
There are other sports as well but I dont know their names.
And on the academic side a couple of high up business people but most notably afrikaans writer Lourens van der Post and Bram Fischer (not sure but I think so).
Also had a few guests at school that have visited including Desmond Tutu and Gary Player and Mandela when I was still in pre-primary or grade 1 I think. Many of the sports guys I mentioned have also come to assembly before

Must be a bit of pressure there, with kids worried about failure.

Surprisingly not! You gotta play 1 summer and 1 winter sport and thats about it!
Most of the guys do it cause they love it but you do get a couple who play because they have to. And not to many fail either, in grade 8, 9 and 10 you have 2 or 3 (occasionaly 1 or 2 more) but matric pass rates are always between 99 and 100%.

Man, I cannot wait to see this movie!!! Yeah I think Grey is an incredible success story within the South African schooling infrastructure. I went to KES so we've played the odd match against Grey, KES is known as a cricketing school but I'm not sure we've ever beaten Grey at cricket and definitely not at rugby although we've only played Grey's once, 1986 St Stithians easter festival. We lost 22-18 but it was an incredible game of rugby. Grey had 5 SA schools players in that team, including I think Pieter Muller, maybe even Hansie at 8th man, Rueben Kruger... awesome team...

We played either KES or St Johns last year at cricket, cant remember the result either. Grey also had 5 guys in the last world cup :D
