Great article over on MyGaming :)

Nicely done. Can confirm that I never have gaming issues when my teamies on other ISPs do.

Keep it up.

What happened? :)

I posted my external IP in a thread about mikrotik routing issues by mistake, and someone hit me with a bunch of icmp and udp traffic.
10 million packets dropped, 10GB of bandwidth consumed in 15 minutes.

Was playing D3 the other night - everyone else in the party was 300-330ms, I was 210

Your router doesnt block ICMP?

The secret is out :D

Anyways, I will +1 that article as gaming is my top priority in the evenings. Guess which ISP has not failed me since I joined up with them right at the beginning.

It was great playing Overwatch in the closed beta stress test and once again last night. Blizzard has done something fantastic with their netcode, where even us 200ms peeps don't feel the lag that much. Add to that an awesome ISP where IT JUST WORKS, and it's a match made in heaven.

I wonder how that other ISP is doing, maybe they need like a month to add Overwatch to their shapers or whatever....

I'll chime in as well and say that international gaming pings have always been amazing.

Path of exile gives me between 160ms to 170ms.
Overwatch is around 170ms to 180ms.

Have had no issues in either.

Does anyone here get good speeds with either of the CW news servers? This is really starting to frustrate me. During the day I never get more than around 1MB/s (and if I run two different clients they will share a combined total speed of 1MB/s). I tried an nzb just now and it couldn't go faster than 2.5MB/s.

Then I switched back to my old Afrihost account (still active due to rollover) and tried afrihost.news.co.za, and immediately my download jumped to 10.5MB/s! It hasn't dipped below 9MB/s once.

I'm running the same ports for all these servers. Can't something be done about the CW servers? I don't see how the issue can be on my side. Really hoping I don't have to fork out for a premium news server from Newsdemon or Newshosting.

10.5 MB/s? That is 84 Mb/s? Sure of your figures are you?

I use the authenticated server, constant 1.2mb/s which is my full line speed.

I find the servers also very inconsistent. On 40Mb VDSL and it looks like it ranges from 1MB/s to 2.7MB/s mostly and sometimes gets to the normal 4.7MB/s

I find the authenticated server to be a bit better than the other one. They both get around 1MB/s during the day but the authenticated one goes a little faster off-peak.

I'm wondering if these servers are throttled for typical ADSL level speeds.

I've had speeds as fast as 4.5MB/s and even 8MB/s once, but they are very far and few between. I don't even regard them as within the normal range.

At least it's not just me having issues with the server. Wish more people had VDSL and FTTH so they could comment on higher speeds with the servers.

What CW package do you have?

My line syncs 5Mbps and I am on 4Mbps Uncapped premium. On the IS nntp server I get max 460KBps, sometimes spiking to 500KBps. Same goes for the CW nntp server when I am downloading older stuff.

During peak time it drops to around 80 to 90KBps, sometimes to 40KBps, which really ticks me off if I wanted to watch a distro. I then cancel the download and let it fire up after 12am.

You must be on Tapatalk. Connection is in my sig: CW 425GB on 100Mbit Telkom FTTH.

Interesting that even sub-1MB/s connections get throttled though.

If CW is paying someone for a premium news service you'd think they can get them on the phone and tell them to cut the crap.

You are Aggressive this early on a Saturday morning.

I can see it is a capped account and it is home capped. How difficult was that? No need to be a d!ck about it.
