Star Trek Online? I play Nevewinter which I think is hosted on the same servers and have the same issues except sometimes it starts as early as 18:00 and goes as late as 22:00. In my case I login and then timeout before retrieving characters. Then sometimes I'll be able to select my character and it disconnects while loading the map. Very frustrating, especially when you sit typing in your password 20 times in a row! In my case though I'm using Web Africa which is also on the IS backbone and paying for their Business package which is supposed to be almost top priority on the network (go figure). I was seriously considering switching to CW based on the glowing reports but now hearing the latest stories and seeing your post makes me wonder if it's a good move and whether my issues aren't perhaps actually related to the IS network. By the way, if I switch accounts to the trial Axxess account it works fine, then back to WA and it times out, back to Axxess and it's fine again.... Seems pretty obvious as to the cause now.
Get a CW test account and see what it's like for you.

What platform do you play On? I have both for xb1 and can try it out.

A worrying lack of activity from the two CW reps these last few days in the light of a number of issues brought up with network quality and support response...

Perhaps I just hit a busy period. I don't appreciate being told to "hold on" when I ask whether someone is still there after waiting for 5-10min without any response.

See this is my expectation of what will happen with any live resource so I stick to email and just remain patient.

Because I despise it when my clients jump on Lync after logging a case and then try to "motivate" me. It does the exact opposite as I can't concentrate on your issue while you pop up on the bloody screen the whole time.

If I was CW I wouldn't even offer live chat.

Yes they're on the same server. Just as I was about to type now the dns stopped working, had to switch to google dns..
I get the same results on my WA account also, I just can't log in, Afrihost account works fine.

PC. I was suffering tonight with incredible lag and rubberbanding. Mtrr shows:

I actually haven't tried the trial account yet to be honest. I do have one which nicely exposed my telephone number as well as name surname and email in the June hack :) I must see if I can hunt down the latest password email and give it a whirl.

I'm on a CW 4meg prem uncapped account now & have these issues. Also the Xbox & PS4 have different servers to the pc version.

Not a single thing changed on our network for DSL. We've seen a perception from some people that passwords changed and now they perceive issues. I am not up to speed on any DSL related issues reported here. Reasons posted below. Support response is due to having been rather overloaded, honestly. It has been a bit of a crazy time for us but we are beefing up the structures there to account for this if it ever happens again.

Reasons for responses here not being what we would like them to be on MyBB: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ial-quot-)?p=18409770&viewfull=1#post18409770

Could not play online tonight, the latency spikes were really rough. Got kicked out of games quite a few times. Had pings of up to 12K. What is going on?

Did you talk to support, as that is the only way to say what is going on. There is no general issue whatsoever on our end on DSL and the only way to know the issue or ID it for you is to engage support when it happens. We are only one party in getting you to your game, so it shouldn't always be assumed that it is us, which is why we must be able to investigate it for you when it happens to be able to answer. There were no general network faults this evening and nothing in our on-going testing showed up as anomalous, so the short answer is "nothing on our end".

Not sure what 12K pings means. Do you mean 1200ms? If so that is absolutely not something we are doing or an issue with the network on our end causing it in all likelihood. That is a severe problem somewhere either off our network, on the specific server(s) you're connecting to; on the ISP's network you were interconnected to for access to the server; your line; your router; your splitter; the exchange; your wireless; a cable; a driver issue; another update happening in the background consuming the bandwidth; an upload of something; and many more things that could go wrong. It's never easy to try to say after the fact what the specifics in your instance were.

12K ping means 12000ms. I spoke to support on saturday and they did a port reset which worked for a bit then started happening again. I already spoke to someone I know that works at the local Telkom exchange as well and he is saying the problem is on the IS network.

I will contact support during the day tomorrow. There were no updates running, no downloads, no uploads etc. I manage my systems well and know that the problem is not on my end. There is something really wrong on IS network. This has been happening for a week now.

There is absolutely not a single chance whatsoever that anyone in a Telkom exchange can see the IS network, let alone diagnose something on it. If he said that, he was talking a bit of nonsense as they do not allow Telkom techs insight into their network in the same way that Telkom refuse ISPs insight into theirs. Moreover, he'd have to see our slice in that network. If a port reset helped, it didn't reset anything on our side - it reset your actual Telkom connection at the port at the exchange. Probably best to chat to our guys on support who, if there is an issue, escalate it to netops to take further rather than passing the buck without cause.

12000ms ping is simply not an issue on our network. Had it been, we'd have been, for all intents and purposes, down entirely and this thread would have blown up, and social media going bonkers at us.

There were quite a few guys complaining about latency etc in online games in this thread. It was not a constant 12k ping, it spiked that high and then came down again. Point is it has been spiking a lot and you can see it on winmtr. The telkom guy tested the exchange here and my line with no problems. I sent him the winmtr tests and he looked at them and says it appears to be on IS network. Don't be so quick to assume what has or has not been said/done.

I have been happy with CW since the start and the service has been great till now. I also experienced the slow and tedious support when I contacted them last and I don't want CW to end up like other ISP's I have been with. I get that you have had your hands full with the Vumatel stuff but you do have other clients as well.

Anyway, good night

I have spoken to support multiple times regarding the issues on YT and they make me run winmtr and after telling me it looks fine, chat goes quiet and there are awkward thanks & goodbyes ...

Multiple people have mentioned issues on YT and gaming latency ... can't be our imagination

I am having massive issues - packet loss(about 8-15%, depends on the day it seems) since last week Wednesday, and now 2 days ago I started seeing wildly erratic pings as well - from normal to 150ms in one go. Charl @ Telkom already confirmed it's not exchange congestion, not even close, and their techs are seemingly unable to find the fault. I don't have any idea whether it's on IS' side, or on Telkom's side, or on CW's side, but nobody has been able - in 8 days - to tell me what the hell the problem is.

And then I see people on here having similar issues on the same ISP, which confuses me even more, since the issues I am complaining about, are replicated when I use a Telkom test account, or an Afrihost account.

How are your line stats?
Tried replacing your pots filters?

Line stats are 100%. I don't normally use pots filters, but I tried them just in case, to diagnose, new router, new cables that came with the router, Ethernet to USB to rule out ethernet port, even tried laptop. Nothing makes it better.
