Anyone getting slow speeds on streaming tonight? Youtube and other streaming sites are crawling at 100-200KB\s on my 10mb line.

so seems support decided to throw my ticket away and ignore me now, after they asked me what was I downloading and when I responded saying relook at my email, it's all there, twice already.

So... got a response after asking for it to be escalated to a manager, so much for a capped account on CW being completely unshapped.
and I'll add, so much for the truth... I checked the download a couple of times during the night, even stop / restarted it, with same performance. so ye it's done on network contention, go BS someone else.

You are on an extreme home capped account, the account is prioritised on gaming, browsing, streaming and all real time protocols. It is not an unshaped account as there is dynamic shaping on large downloads which are your torrents and NNPT downloads. This means they are shaped according to how contended the network is at any given point in time, if the network is contended the shaping is increased and if its less contended the shaping is less.

In case there is something else at play. Could I please ask you to run a WinMTR

Uhm...all of that is in their product FAQs...they never stipulate that their capped accounts are unshaped 24/7.

Meh. Been having zero issues. Pulling at 12MB/s on fibre with my capped account. *shrug*

Hope you get sorted.

Same here + 100

Seems CW is not better for me than MWEB, initial 2 months passed and I'm back where I started.

They give priority to streaming and Games... Torrents get pushed so far back on priority that I've now ended with 8-10Kb. I've tried stop/restarting it during 0:00-06:00 period, even restart my router to reset the session. Some how it seems network is SO congested during that time that it justify this priority to other data/protocols.

How sure are you that it's the network and not just badly seeded torrents?
FWIW, my torrents go at line speed on my uncapped account.

6 different torrents, from very different peers, active peer counts of 40+,
source site used before, for the same series's and previously got very different speeds.

This 8-10Kb has been constant since Sunday morning, the downloads would all start and initially ramp up to 2-2.5MB, and then with in 2 min nose dive down to previous mentioned speed.

Know the behavior to well by now to not know whats going on.

My next question to CW would be to ask if they could check why it appears that the network segment that you are on appears to be that highly contended that your torrents and nntp traffic are being shaped to such an extent.

I presume that you have kept evidence showing that dynamic shaping appears to have been in effect for 2 days now.

You may also want to check if you've inadvertently fallen into some 'star rating' blackhole - what's happening to you sounds suspiciously like the days when I was with plugg and incredible and the star thing kicked in.

By the way, what kind of volume are you/were you doing with respect to torrents/nntp?

Does Crystal Web use Internet Solutions like Connection/PluGG and Web Africa? If so, don't those account follow the star rating policy? I don't know much about their service so do forgive me ignorance.

Also, have not read the previous posts but are you on a capped or uncapped account? IS capped has always been decent.

They use IS bandwidth but manage it themselves - there is no star rating.

Could be a configuration issue on the persons account then? Surprises that support hasn't been able to identify and remedy the problem.

Could be. Would be interesting to see total usage though.

This depends on whether he is on capped or uncapped. If on uncapped I have seen ISPs in the past assign gimped profiles to high usage accounts behind the scenes. Not sure if IS has ever done that but since Crystal Web manages the profiles it could be possible (don't take this as an assumption, I'm just providing ideas as to what the problem may be)

I know Web Africa HAS done this to home uncapped account, so it's definitely possible.

I normally download the weekly batch of TV series once a week, I'd start them at around 20:00, and inittially they'd be a bit slow, as it is peak time, and then speed up at around 23:00'ish. Full speed by 01:00 if not already completed.

For the programs we watch this ends being 3-5GB/week depending on which size episodes I pick, norm is 350MB/episode.

Active Seeds are per download is normally 20-30.

TV series mid/late last week was not at normal speed, but was also not useless like atm.

This is a 150GB capped account.

The downloads started on Sunday morning is some movies, 950MB/average each. at a speed of 8-10KB. 9 of them, 4 already completed.

Have you tried another ISP's trial account to see if it's perhaps exchange issues?

CW have "free time" between 00:00 and 18:00 iirc, wouldn't it be better to schedule your torrents in this time slot?

Also have you tried torrenting a regte "linux distro" to see what speeds you get - Ubuntu 16.10 would be a good choice.

That's super weird. Why would you download your series during the brief window when your usage is actually deducted from your cap?

Peak/Netflix time should have nothing to do with your speeds on an unshaped account. My downloads fly no matter when I commence them.
