do you guys shape Plex streams? If you do, do you stream by source or by protocol?

What this guy said...and it's been like this for the last 2 weeks. It's ridiculous and INCREDIBLY frustrating. Home capped is pretty much fukced and pretty much useless. I basically upgraded to a 20Mbps line for no reason what so ever as I get less throughput than my old 4Mbps line when trying to stream the odd youtube vid. Can't even stream 480p properly. HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?

Yeah my line performance has dropped significantly as of yesterday.

Speedtest returns 6Mbps on my 10MB uncapped and I actually need 720p to buffer now. Sounds petty but I used to be able to launch videos at 1080p without needing to worry.

Youtube streaming on the PS3 struggles to stay at 720p as well which is a shame.
 
Youtube buffers at 720p, goes to 1mbps that's it. What's wrong CW? 4meg Prem Uncapped

Line seems crippled during the day. All services shaped to 10% of line speed. At exactly 17:00 the speed goes back to full for what I assume is only as long as shaping is not needed. Usually this means that around 19:30 - 20:00 the speeds are back to 10% of the line speed. This persists till around 23:30.

I've run some tests over the last 3 weeks and this seems to be the pattern I'm facing.

Last night the speeds were back to 10% at around 17:45. I switched to a backup account from 18:00 and had zero problems for the evening.

This morning at 05:40-ish I switched back to CW and the line was running 100%.

Well since it is a "home" account, I expect performance to be better after 17:00, but then it should stay like that until the next morning! Also cutting performance during the day by 90% is too excessive!

Maybe CW isn't for me. My usage pattern points me to a Home Capped account, but it isn't working as it should. I'm not going to spend the extra on a Business account if 90% of my usage is after 17:00 in any case!

One thing to note however is that 10% of my line speed is 400kB odd. I've read reports that other users on 4mb accounts are getting full speed. So this might only be effecting users with 10mb+ lines.

Cant comment on what happens during work hours, but everything except downloads is fine. I'm lucky if I can get 25% line speed (I'm on a 10MB line) in the download window (00h00 - 06h00), I was told this was fixed on Saturday, but afterwards on MyBB I see the 25th is the the date I should look to. If the goal posts shift one more time I'll need to look for something else (since I've had this issue for well over a month with 3 or 4 chats with support)

You guys have strange issues. I'm on Home Capped 10MB account and i just tested a 1080p video stream on Youtube and i'm getting a full 840Kb/s down on it.

I also managed to stream Twitch on High last night without any issues. Weird indeed.

Are you in the Southern region? Can you confirm this afternoon (before 16:00) if all is still good?
 
When people are posting their issues and they don't have location in their user profile - PLEASE post which region you are in. Will make things a lot simpler :)

Have any of you tried requesting a session reset and DSL reset from CrystalWeb? Support did it for me and my issues were resolved? Maybe that's worth trying.

Did not even know that was possible. Have recycled my port a few times on the exchange and that has done nothing, but if the session reset does something else I'll definitely ask. Thank you for the suggestion.

I didn't know either until they did it for me. Anyone who's having problems should try request it from CW support. Actually, rather ask Paul or Shaun as they are more likely willing to do it. By the sounds of things it seems that support agents are hesitant to do it.

I was battling with torrents 60kb/s on a 4mb line. After they did the session reset and DSL reset, power cycled my modem and all of a sudden problem solved.

Worth a shot. May potentially solve a lot of problems people are having.
 
The issue was that certain types of Gaming Downloads on our Premium Uncapped Accounts were not being shaped correctly according to the network demand at the time, therefore increasing load on the network and causing some issues during peak times.

The fix has gone in this morning and we've seen an improvement on the network so far.


Wait....so the premium uncapped accounts....specifically designed / chosen by people for gaming...has been shaped...on gaming??? Then whats the point of taking out the premium accounts anymore?

Was fine until around 8:30am.

Now crawling at, you guessed it, 10% of linespeed and worse. Getting 20-30kbps http downloads and think broadband speedtest showing 2mbps to the UK.

This on a 20mbps VDSL line with perfect health.

Really over this nonsense. It's a neutered account at present until someone at CW says otherwise.

A real shame as well, because when I joined it was the best I'd ever experienced.
