on a 10mb line. Steam updates running 250kb/s right now on home capped account.

Switch over to Afrihost: 900kb/s...

What games? I typically pull in the sub 200ms for most EU server games that I play. It's the one thing that has truly been consistent for me bar a few hiccups here and there. Only on a 2MB line, so testing out HD streams is out of the question for me, but at least it tops out my line :)

Ah - yeah geographical location has you there then. Pings to US can range in the 300-400ms+, not much we can do about that.

On a side note: NNTP is all over the place at the moment. Seems like I can now add my voice to those in the thread. Using IS and CW servers on an unshaped account - not so great right now.

Edit: Where did 24 hour support go? It's not the weekend yet...
 
Whats up with fortiguard crystalweb...when did you decide you can tell me what pages i can visit....
 
Checked performance this morning and downloads came down at max speeds. YouTube as well was running great on a few videos this morning.

So now waiting for the feedback from the reps.

I pulled an amazing 3.5GB in the download window this morning, that is about 20% or less of line speed, yay :erm:

NNTP with the IS one as standard, and the CW one as backup - that is what I last remember being told in this thread as being the best setup. Has that changed?

That is still the best setup from what I understand. I don't use the IS one however.

Really hope all these things get sorted :(

Tried to access unotelly.com this morning only to be redirected to fortiguard telling me the webpage is restricted and I am not allowed to access it as my administrator has blocked it, ie crystalweb

I think most of the issues experienced on Home Capped is related either to that specific account the person has or its location based.

I'm on Home Capped 10MB line and I dont didnt have a problem at all last night. I streamed 1080p video on Youtube and it maxed out my line. Twitch TV streaming was fine, gaming was fine, downloads was fine.

Wonder if something didnt go wrong with the provisioning of some of your guys accounts. Just a thought

Nope, its not. No router firewall (disabled) and I am not running any proxy servers etc.

Even trying to access it via my phone gives me the same message. oh and the fact that It work last night and all of a sudden this morning the restriction message pops up
 
I cancelled my home capped account last week, I received a mail asking to confirm with a Yes which I then sent.

After that I have received no further confirmation of when actually the account will be cancelled? What is the cancellation policy?

One would hope that after 3 or 4 chats with support that avenue would've been explored already

Can anyone at CW confirm when today this fix is going live?
 
Cancelled my Home Capped last night - get a confirmation email asking to do WinMTR tests etc - that I have done and dusted.

Reply from one of the reps:
Indeed our Capacity is under relatively heavy demand still in the cape region which are causing Torrents/NNTP on Home Capped to be shaped a bit heavier than usual, Although this is why we give Home Capped users a ton of free data between midnight to 6am alternatively if you require full speed during the peak times, You can upgrade to Business Capped Standard or Premium.

If you would still like to cancel, Please send an email to [email protected]

Self explanatory.
 
You see... I don't agree with this shaping policy on Home Capped! If I want to use all of my 90Gb tonight at 19:00 then i want to use it at full speed!
 
Too. Little. Capacity.

They can deny it all they want. We had the same experience when Afrihost got more clients because of the existing users' good vibes, and they were voted number one, most notably on MyBB.

The sad truth, though, is that ISP's can't be blamed for 1. too damn high prices of capacity at which Telkom is selling it, and 2. overall lack of capacity available to begin with.

This all points back to Mr. Telkom, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it.
