Been testing this constantly and all connections into their DC are perfect, and the bandwidth and classification is correct. Also unable to replicate on my side, so can say with confidence that this isn't related to us at all. I do however know that their servers and bandwidth are being hit VERY hard since RWC started...

pretty typical of them to not make provisions with the RWC hey ....... I'd suggest you set your sights on Multichoice, they could do with some CW way of running things :D

hey DJ...

I want a wireless fibre connection...
Lol. We do dedicated wireless to fibre backhaul. Cost is high though, even doing the wireless and backhaul ourselves.

We also already have access to hundreds of high sites around the country for contended access on fibre backhaul (ala WISP) but the costs are still right up there and not where we want them. We offer this to business clients at the moment and don't yet have a consumer strategy for it, but I suppose we could rebrand it and sell it at the same price and call it elite consumer. Lol...

Thanks to the Emmys, I've got a tonne of Linux ISO's to download tonight via NNTP, some as many as 300 days old. Time to test the main reason I moved to CW, that much touted premium 2000 day retention News Server.

What's going on with Crystal Web's FTTH? Clicking on the link on your website takes me to another website that just asks for my interest in fibre. Telkom will finish installing fibre in my area in a month - are you guys going to offer fibre accounts any time soon?

Telkom Fibre works on any of our existing capped products. That FTTH link is for our own fibre deployments where we install the infrastructure...

Hi guys,

There has been a cable break on the Telkom network in Pretoria and customers across all ISPs will experience connectivity issues. Telkom are busy working on the problem and expect to resolve the issue in 1 hour according to their notice system, but these sorts of cable break faults can extend far longer than that.

We'll update you as we receive more information...

I had one of those at my office in london.

Well, it was a 1gbps laser between two buildings. Same thing :D

DJ - strangely, everything else works just fine, even nntp, but netflix doesn't do its 720-1080 like it used to

Indicates a packet loss issue in all likelihood and ping, resulting in receive window issues, which won't always impact downloads but will affect streaming. And is indicative of your line troubles the last while. Have you chatted with support, because I'm out in meetings from 10am today until very late...

Nah, to be honest I'm not unhappy enough at the moment ;) It's just that things aren't _perfect_, but they're good enough :D

I'm just counting the days ...

So, now that Telkom are starting to zero-rate things like DSTV and iTunes streaming for R99 a month can we get some streaming love too :D

Are those capped products limited to 40Mbps on fibre?
