IS was working 100%, when I tested last night; though the big download I am running did not download any junk files through 11pm to 2am on the CW nntp server.

So, I've been using Crystal Web for a few days now and so far I'm 100% happy with the service I'm receiving. I've had no problems whatsoever.

No, but incredibly busy with some major projects. One of which completes tomorrow evening...

Please let it be domain / email / website hosting. I am sick of Afrihost and their inability to control their own network. I need to move ASAP.

I use the IS server for almost everything and the CW server only for stuff that was DMCA'd or very old.

That is the correct config as it means better overall performance. I am trying to get to the bottom of the data corruption issues on some of the files. Last time this happened it was one of the providers intentionally pushing corrupted data to their competitors and it entered the "global" sourcing data that is used for news servers...

Update on premium news server: the article completions are back to normal and no further issues are expected from this point on.

Standard news server was unaffected during this time by the way and it was isolated to the free premium server only...

Hehe. Now that's a first. (and a very welcome first)

One of the benefits of being on a premium account with us is access to 2 news servers: one is the standard IS news server hosted locally and the other is a rather fancy premium news server from NextGenNews, so you don't have to pay for another subscription there when making the switch to Crystal Web - we've included that in our home offerings. Something that's never taken into account in these price comparisons on MyBroadband...;)

I have a home capped account. Where can I find details on the news servers?

EDIT: nevermind....found the details in the signup email.

As per our network notices that were automatically sent, we are performing planned maintenance of the network starting this evening and it is likely to commence until Thursday. During this time there may be increased packet loss and some reduced speeds for some customers but we will try to keep this to an absolute minimum as and where it is technically feasible to do so...

Ah. This would explain the occasional outages I'm seeing. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in PFSense.

What exactly did you notice on your end? Can you PM me as we're trying to keep any impact to a minimum and it does appear to be working...

Every now and then, a new PFSense setup that I've got here (configuring for client) stops resolving addresses and can't connect to the update databases for the ClamAV antivirus, but I know that the internet is working when I'm browsing on my phone through the Wi-Fi (I've branched off the network so that the PFSense server is on its own subnet). I'm not quite sure why. Rebooting fixes it temporarily, but changing DNS settings or anything else doesn't, and it doesn't last for long. Earlier today I wasn't affected, but both my mom and brother have notified me that they have occasional issues accessing the internet.

I haven't tried using another ISP.

No changes happening on DNS with this upgrade and won't cause intermittent connectivity either, so it does sound more like a pfsense config issue here rather than anything related to what we're doing in the background...
