DJ, any reason why there isnt an option say for a 50GB cap? Is this based on feedback you guys have conducted, whereby your smallest capped package is 100GB's?

Thanks

Rationale and reasoning for pricing and package options that currently exist is proprietary information so we typically don't discuss them in the public domain, however what I can say is that current packages and options being evaluated and there will be some changes coming in. We need to complete all new upgrades before we can do this...

The wireless is fine (Ubiquiti Unifi running directly into Mikrotik Router) - she's just being picky

Speedtest and other network speed monitoring tools that I run on her iPad shows that there's no problem.

Hence my comment to her about fibre (it is after all only an 8 meg ADSL line)

basically you doing something to her speeds, in order to convince her to get Fibre. Sneaky, but i like it :D

Here's some networking and relationship advice: acknowledge her experience, explain you have discussed this with the CEO of your ISP, and he has suggested that you test this on a new wireless channel. Let her see you checking which are free; changing the channel; and watch how perception changes. It may just be perceived to be "faster" now...:D

But expect next time something slows down to get the "are you sure it's not the channel-thingy-stuff you did last time? Why don't you just do it again and make it faster?"

:p

Cheers man, didnt expect you to give me the full reasoning. I was just interested to know why it started at 100Gb's :) Itching to give the network a go, but eish, i need lots of data. But im following this thread with lots of interest to see what you guys have planned

There are a few wireless analysers on your phone's app-store that you can use to check, and some modern routers come with an analysis tool...

Didn't think of the 'changing the channel' with her observing angle

(I did in fact change the channel but didn't do it in front of her or tell her)

Nevah! :D

I'd love fibre but it really is a luxury - it's my decision (all tech decisions and costs around it are left entirely in my hands) and I just can't justify the cost to myself at this point.

Pity you're not in an area serviced by a decent provider. It's cheaper than dsl, like for like.

Who here was having issues with ping in WoW to the EU servers?

My pings yesterday were sitting at 300ms when it's usually around 170ms

There is an issue coming from Blizzard's side with the way they are announcing their routes once it hops off our network and on to some of their peering networks overseas. They're pushing the data to the US first which is absurd. Unfortunately it's not routing under ours nor IS's control so nothing we can necessarily do here to fix the problem, but it seems they are slowly deploying fixes and changes to address this...

Talk to me via PM - we have some cool stuff heading this way, hence all of the new upgrades...;)

It is me. Tomorrow it will be a week that it's been like this for me. I hope it's sorted soon :(
