DStv ON DEMAND via MWEB ADSL

How is it a fail? Today SA has access to a recent technology trend that we didn't have yesterday. That counts as pretty great news to me.
As for accessing it via iPhone in SA, the BBC iPlayer didn't support it either on day one
 
God you people can moan! This is something we did not have but it still is not good enough??
 
Listen you can say what you want too. We are paying way too much for telecom and tv services. We expected way more from this MWEB/DSTV announcement than what we got today. Especially as it’s a service that’s been there all along and not new at all. It’s utterly disappointment to say the least and you try and defend these people? I am sure you are one of the people who sit and get a fat cat salary that’s why you don’t complain about these things. It’s a matter of fact that decent TV+ADSL+Landline+Mobile phone are in actual fact necessities in a normal household. Now how many of the people in South Africa can actually afford all of this??
 
Apologies if this has been brought up already (did not read all 7 pages...)..

What is the difference between this *new* service and DSTV Broadband (later renamed to DSTV on Demand) that was launched back in 2007, except that it is now only available to MWeb ADSL users? :confused:

I dont quite understand...

DSTV does not want you to marry your smart card to any other device except their decoders and does not want to share their EPG with anyone, not even microsoft, which renders the MCE comunity in SA "almost" without hope. Their reason for doing this is the good old Piracy excuse.. "The PC is BAD anyone wanting to use a pc to watch tv will pirate!!"

but yet.. now they actually WANT us to use our PC's for watching TV??

Please explain that philosophy to me.. eish.. I cant belief...

Yes. If I forget to record a show, I can just come home, select the show and press play.
Or have the Grand Prix on on my computer if I am not (or cannot) be at my TV. Which does happen. Just look at the rest of the world

Yes, that question also crossed my mind. We can also download without the on-screen channel logos. I did notice that there isn't that much on offer. Perhaps they will just restrict the choices.

Well, first off, you can access this through your PVR and not just on your computer
