I am a bit weary.

Wary.

I have owned 4 Macbook Pro's since OS Tiger. Every new OS release seemed to slow my computers down. I could only remedy it by buying a new faster MacBook. It was so predictable, that I started to wonder if Apple coded it to slow down machines older that 1 year...in order for owners to buy new hardware. It also happened with my iOS devices - all of my iPhones - iPhone, iPhone3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 slowed down to a crawl after a few iOS upgrades....until I jumped ship with phones and tablets to Android. I recently bought a new top of the line MBP 15", cost me R 35 000.00. It runs amazingly fast, and I would hate for it to slow down.
Perhaps I will try EC out on one of my Mac Mini's first for a few months to see what it's like.

El Capitan is much faster, but there are a few bugs.

El Capitan's raison d'etre is supposed to be speed optimization, seems speedy on my old '11 Macbook Pro when it decides to work.

Mid '12 MacBook Air checking in. A week later and I'm loving the update. Just the little things... Finder feels a lot faster and smoother. Safari doesn't shrink every time I open it anymore. Disk Utility is way better... I think I even prefer the new font now, 'tho that did take a day or two.

Well now it's back to awesome, it could perhaps be the indexing, I noticed earlier in finder nothing was displayed under All My Files but the 5 files I had pasted on the desktop could be viewed by browsing to the desktop in finder. Now they are under All My Files so indexing couldn't have been complete earlier.

Suppose it would need to index all the iLife content at least which would be a good few files but taking as long as it has does seem a bit of a mystery.

How was El Capitan right after the install for those who did an install over an earlier OSX?

Upgraded late 2013 rMBP with discrete graphics from 10.10.5 to EC; took less than 30 minutes.
Seems fine from a speed perspective, but CPU does go a bit high from time to time despite not really doing much. The culprit; akd and kernel_task.

Office 2016 also hasn't shown me any issues as yet; I'll have to use it a bit more to see if anything comes up.

Early impressions; I find the fonts a bit weird but I'll probably get used to it. There is a slight performance bump so far, in my opinion, but it is difficult to quantify; I notice the improvement specifically when browsing.

I could only last 7 days. Finder hanging and Spotlight giving too much grief. Copied my home folder. Going to erase and install OS X Yosemite (10.10.5).

Odd, I have not had a single issue with EC on my MBP.

However trying it out as a Hackingtosh...disaster.

I haven't had any issues with EC either. I'm not a fan of OSX in general, but it's an improvement over Yosemite, be it only slight. I can't say I found any noticeable differences.

I received an Office update today. Not sure if it fixes the El Cap issue, but since I've installed it Outlook hasn't frozen up yet.

Tried to download it this morning, but the Office internet is as useless as ever.
Will see tomorrow morning if I can download the update.
Did a clean install this morning. Had one install fail with a grey screen and cursor and nothing else.
So had to re install again. So only got it working after 09h00.

Hi guys :) Wondering if someone can help with an issue I have. I've got a Samsung 840 EVO in my Macbook, running El Capitan. This isn't specific to El Capitan but if I close the lid with no power cable in, when I open the lid the power light comes up but doesn't turn on again. Any ideas?

I've experienced a handful of Outlook hangs/crashes over the last few days. Fortunately, no data loss, but not sure what is triggering it.

I reinstalled bootcamp from scratch. Previously when I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 had no issue. Now after installing the latest bootcamp driver I have had a couple of issues with my secondary screen connected via HDMI. The bottom windows toolbar on the secondary screen sometimes appears on the middle right hand side of the laptop screen

Yeah office is a little hit and miss. But I suppose that isn't the operating systems' fault.

That Office update I got the other day definitely solved the Outlook 2011 freezing issue. No freezes since.

Since I see the Office, anyone managed to solve it ?

I can simply not open Word and Excel, they just take close to 10 minutes to load and then just crash as soon as I click on something.

The strange thing is that it started to happen only next week (no new update installed in this timespan as far as I can remember).

So far no issues with using the 2016 Office on EC, although I see there is an update waiting. Will see what happens.

I have a question around writing to NTFS/FAT32 - Not sure if I missed this being mentioned somewhere, but is there an easy (free preferably) way of doing this? I followed a guide relating to NTFS-3G, but it looks like this application is broken in the latest EC update. Any ideas?

No luck just yet so my externals with partitions of ntfs are now read only. Seems like an issue with NTFS-3G not being compatible with El Capitan. Waiting on someone to find a way but keep in mind this is Tuxeredo? which is a paid for app so thinking its unlikely.
