Ex-MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Well I'll beat him to it. I have done 165gb so far this month and probably another 60 over the weekend as it runs at full speed from about 9 on friday...

*sigh, typing on a phone takes too long. I didn't beat him ;)

All this whining. It's friday people ffs, go have a beer, slap each other around and come back in a happier place.

But you could thumbsuck and say you are getting R200 more than what you were getting on Mweb right?

@Fudzy - last month on mweb I only managed 180gb... I have done 15 less than that and we are now the 10th of the month...

(FYI: I deleted those posts because I was fed up with conversing with someone as rude as you; tail between my legs; wow you're a clown!)

run that logic by me again?

for three reasons
1. My usage is irrelevant - I don't download 24/7 - I get 300+ KB/s when ever I want to download.
2. My account does not record usage - as per the Openweb feedback thread - which should actually be the case anyway, as its an UNCAPPED account.
3. I don't feel the need to provide you with my statistics.

exactly. if it is working as intended and how i expect it to, what use are usage stats?

My whole issue with MWEB was not being able to download when I wanted, so if I suddenly saw something I wanted that was 12GB - I had to schedule it to download over about 5 days.... and would only get speeds above 0-50KB/s after 1am till 6am on some days... and even then - it wouldn't go near line speed. So to me, the product shaped or not, was not a 4MB product, because if it never achieves that speed - it can't be a 4MB product... I couldn't even stream lowdef video's from youtube with MWEB - they buffered for minutes.

With Openweb, if I see something I want, I schedule it up and it immediately downloads at 300KB/s+... even at 5pm.

So yes, the R200 more for a 4MB shaped product is WELL worth it.

If the roles were reversed and I didn't post usage stats on my new ISP, this thread would fill up with "EPIC FAIL" posts, that's all :) I'm not actually interested in usage or other ISPs really, so I don't really care any either way.

Oh - I can gladly post stats from the files I've chosen to download - which so continuous high speeds at any hour... I just won'y see the need to provide those to an MWEB troll.

I ran SABnzb on my computer. I have set it up so I can access it even when I am not at home. I have seen many instances where I think of something, queue it up and have seen it run at 300kB/s+ mid-afternoon. That is what i want my internet experience to be.

It got so bad with M-Web at times that on a public holiday, I would still be getting crappy speeds during the day. I really wasn't enjoying the 4Mbps line I was paying for. So in order to enjoy my line, i decided to pay that bit extra to another ISP, so that it performed to the level that I know my line can.

That is why you can compare the two services even if they do not cost the same.

Actually all I would want to know from you is whether you can download from torrents or usenet at 2pm in the afternoon and get 300kB/s+ speeds without using SSL?

I would want to know whether if you download consistently over SSL, whether you run a chance of being seen as violating the AUP?

edit: i doubt whether i am doing much more than 200GB per month. So for me its not a case of absolute numbers as I know there are people on MWEB doing far more than that.

Depends on how much data were talking about - but if its gigs imo this would be against the AUP and you would get a email from Mweb.

dead horse not even have billtong left...

...mil which isp you are with again ?

At this very moment i am tempted to get a second line, with openweb running on that - and then comparing side by side results :)
Sitting on roughly 110+gb for the month sofar (don't know what to download - otherwise would be more)

Anthropoid - what is your means of downloading? http, nzb, torrent? Also are you based in jhb? (on my phone so I can't see location)

I battled to do 180gb with mweb last month.

And that goes to my point. On Openweb Gold there is no SSL issue.

Hahaha schumi.

I have mweb capped now, so technically, I'm still a mweb subscriber, but no longer an uncapped one... I am however a happy openweb gold uncapped 4mb subscriber... 105gb in december and counting :D

I can almost guarantee that no mweb 4mbps shaped customer is even close to that... Anyone gonna prove me wrong? ;)

How bizarre! I haven't had a month where I've done less then 400GB. This is what Mweb say is my current usage:
ADSL Usage - (December, 2010)
You have used 151.46 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 10 December, 2010, 06:34:20

South Coast,KZN - Uvongo to be exact.
Looking at my download machine logs:
Using combination of:
  • Paid NZB Servers (80%)
  • Private Tracker Torrents (10%)
  • HTTP Paid For Rapidshare / etc (10%)

So, anything to report on biometrics?

I'm super happy so far. It just works.

Keep in mind I'm not downloading 24x7, there's no need to as when I want something I can get it quickly.

So at R248/month/connection this is an awesome deal. (R496 for 4 Mbps uncapped for 2 connections)

Gotta love this - sitting at 420KB/s stable... and MWEB is having issues AGAIN... conveniently on a weekend AGAIN... I am so glad I got out when I did. Openweb FTW!
