Hisense... Can we trust?

Check for any thread on here mentioning Hisense and you will probably find a post or two by me.

I will not buy another brand TV ever again.
Period.
The quality that you get, the price you pay, everything is top notch.

I personally think the only reason to these days still pay a premium for a branded TV is to be able to brag about owning a branded TV.

I am not saying all the cheaper brands are good, for instance I wouldn't touch Sinotech with satanboy's barge pole, but I can honestly say from personally having owned/owning the brand, they are very good.

And just to throw in my 2c about Samsung and LG, when they came into the country people were saying the exact same thing about them.

Cheap korean cr@p. Stick with Phillips and Tedelex and Sony

And look where they are today.

If you are pleased with the quality of plastics and other materials used in the Hisense fridges then you should go for it. The first fridges they released to compete with Samsung had flimsy shelves but that's about it although we had the plastics around the glass shelving on our Samsung give all by itself.

I'm more of a Sinotec fan and with their new Smart LED's, running Android, I'm inclined in getting me one. Though my 42" Sinotec Plasma don't want to break and my wife said I can only buy a new one when that happens  /whip crackles in background...
Bough it in 2008.

Sansui....how are they? Reliable, good??? I see them going for cheap.

Samsung for TV. Will never ever touch another LG product (specifically their surround sound systems)

5 year warranty on their sets compared to the usual 2 years?
That in itself tells you something right there.
Wish I bought a bigger screen Hisense instead of my 32" LG screen a few years ago.

Samsung is the biggest panel maker in the world now and most TV's use their panels inside.

So why not just go straight to the source?

Samsung isn't really a premium brand either compared to some of the other big names like Panasonic and Sony...because like you said people see them as Korean crap.

Granted a top end HiSense will probably still beat a lower range Samsung because after all Samsung would have a 8 different model series if there wasn't a quality difference between them, but like for like the Samsungs will still win.

Why is that you never see HiSense in any Top 10 list?

Can you trust them? Yes.

Are they better than premium brands? No.

Are they the same as Samsungs because they use Samsung panels? No.

There is a reason they're cheaper.

There are none as ignorant as those touting Samsung panels and measurement through store-viewing.

I compared 2 lower end Hisense and Samsung TV's; the 40EH5000 and the Hisense 40D36P. The Hisense comes out better with superior picture quality and at a full R1000 less than the Samsung equivalent.

Relevant to my interest

Im looking at their fridges at the moment

I've had a Hisense 220L for a little over a year now, don't have any complaints about it.

Wouldn't get their TVs though, know someone that has a 40" LED and the blacks look inconsistent and a bit washed to me (compared to my 3 year old 32" CCFL D550 Samsung). It also didn't have a "PC mode" via HDMI. Not sure about their newer models.

Please tell us how you compared them, where, etc.?

I'd hope it'd be superior to a 2 - 3 year old Samsung!

I personally thought its was junk I wouldn't touch until one of my friends bought a hisense TV ( 32" I believe).

I was quite impressed with the product, given what he paid for it. He also hasn't had a single days nonsense with it. He's had it for more than a year now.

My recommendation and experience is hisense is fine for the 32 inch 40 inch always great buy and the maybe the 50 inch when they are in the low r5k range anything bigger than that stay away,it is a lot of money,u can get a 50 inch lg led for r6999 nowadays on special, yes they have gone that low and they are far better than hisense...quality over size people that is key.

I still love my sony 40 inch bought last year on special for r4999 the quality is far superior than any tv i have seen and watched movies on..second to that is the lg's

your best tv for the money and quality right now ,is the lg 47 and 50 inch that goes on special

I wouldn't touch Hisense with a barge pole.

I have a Hisense - not sure what model - got it for the kids for gaming as a monitor. No problems after 3 years.

As for the barge pole comment .......... pfffft - I said this about my mates wife, but a few grogs later and I tapped it. :0
