I think it’s the backhaul provider century city connect who provide the fibre to the complex

Can anyone comment on general performance on 100mbps or higher lines? HTTP downloads, NNTP downloads?

Also, what is latency like to EU in particular? Anyone from CPT with some latency samples? Is it around 140-150ms or higher?

Many thanks

Can help you out with some latency tests, got any particular IP's you'd like me to ping/traceroute?

Thanks - don't have a specific IP for the gaming as the servers are randomly assigned. But I can get an idea if you ping speedtest.coreix.net and www.yahoo.com. Thanks for the help!

@sand_man - I remember you being a pretty heavy downloader - experiences on HC? How's NNTP in general if you use it?

Gigabit isn't all that easy to max out but I do my best! No NNTP but I might dust off an old account just to give it a blast and see how she runs. HTTP is my primary source and, in-conjunction with a download manager, I can pretty much get on average around 70% of max line speed.

Locally cached content comes down at line speed most of the time. That is something to behold I tell you!! Never gets old!

Anyone notice throttling on downloads during the day? I can't download faster than 65mb during the day and 100mb at night

Oky so they'll be installing my line on Monday. Any idea when the line is active to start enjoying the fibre world?
Or how the whole installing to browsing the web process takes..

I'm assuming you're talking about installing the line from the already installed outside wall box, to inside your house. After the installers leave it will take about 2 days for the line provider to notify Home Connect. They will then provision your account and courier your router to you, which will take another day or 2. Then you just plug in the router, follow whatever instructions HC emailed to you, and next thing you'll be surfing the glassy net waves.

My family joined Home Connect and had their installation done last week by Link Africa. The LA team were extremely neat and quick, and left the front lawn exactly the way they found it. Very impressed with them!

It took a week from signup to live link, and the experience has been nothing but stellar so far. Home Connect was on the ball the whole way through, and we're really happy with the service. It's wonderful to have something that works for once. Well done, guys!

This is on a 50/50 package btw.

Why is the jitter so high?

Ping and speeds look amazing

Not sure. I didn't have time to do any tests when I was visiting my family. The installer was happy with signal strength on the line, though. Will try and do some tests remotely. That was on the 5GHz WiFi network with my phone.

Yeah, wow!! Link Africa is more expensive than other providers for faster packages. But it seems like they offer a quality service. Hopefully it stays that way. :X3:
