Home-Connect ISP Feedback

Took my uncapped portal about a week to show usage. Not detailed, more like the months overall

Logged a ticket with HC.

As my FNO is Vumatel, and the network is Active Ethernet (Aerial), they cannot monitor data usage. Usage can only be monitored if you have a PPPoE connection.

I'm quite happy with the above. Will continue using NetWorx.

I've just tried a cutover from Vox to Home Connect, on Frogfoot. Frogfoot/Link Africa part was a pleasure and very professional.

Unfortunately Home Connect has let me down badly and I'm very disappointed. When Vox was disconnected this morning, I was left without service (hopefully only until tomorrow sometime, but who knows). They said the people who can help are not working today.

That's a very bad start as I had gone through the steps carefully with Henry, their sales person, in detail BEFORE signing up and in fact a few weeks ago. It seems they push for the sale and then drop you.

The person who is on support today says if they had simply created my ppp profile on Friday, he could have loaded it for me today and I would be live, but they couldn't be bothered.

Then there's the router, which originally I expected to arrive in time for the switchover, but now I find out will only be sent by courier on Monday.

I'm definitely regretting this encounter before I even go live.

Home Connect are now blaming Frogfoot for the delay in activation. Going 30 hours (and counting) without internet these days is really not on

Hi Chris, we have investigated and fast tracked the change of ISP order. You can now test.

Seems others have different experiences. Mine has been a pleasure so far.

They sorted out my ftth install which Vox couldn't do for months even though it was a frogfoot line.

Line was installed and I had access to it Same day. Speeds are good no issues at all. All in all best service I have received from an isp in a decade or ever. Especially the lady who assisted me (Think it was Vusi). She was absolutely amazing.

Thanks. 'Fast tracked' - order was in mid August but I very much appreciate your follow up and fast response.

Please supply test credentials then - currently connection is still failing and no updated credentials supplied to me (edit: I guess that comes from Home Connect and it seems they don't issue credentials ahead of time)

Hi Chris, yes correct, your ISP will need to provide these credentials.

Getting bad speeds again in George, avg is about 38-45mbps down and up klaps it at 100mbps no problems. Latency is around the 35ms mark

Please post your experience with Home Connect ISP

The existing thread should do?

Moved to home connect a week now. Service is awesome. Unfortunately I can't say much for the internet experience. Can't play real debrid files without any buffering. Also noticed that general browsing is a bit sticky. I even reinstalled Kodi but still the same. I'm on a 25meg line and the files I'm playing are only 3gb. Speed tests locally is fine. International latency to Europe is about over 200ms,sometimes 300ms but line speed is fine. Any ideas? I'm undecided if I should log this with them as yet.

if you running windows OS, try downloading tcpoptimizer4 setting slider to your linespeed and choose optimise, restart. also don't use wifi.

try installing pingplotter and do about 500 counts at 1 sec intervals to 5.39.226.191
like this:

Thanks. Will log it with them tomorrow. Let's hope it's this.
also i use an app on my iphone called wifi-sweetspot, not sure of android equivalent, but that will help finding dead spots with the wifi.

Ran a few tests on ethernet at 23:00 with no devices and minimal activity on my network. I also sent these results to them. I'm still unable to play Real debrid streams!

not good those ping spikes, which fibre network are you on as your issue seems with them and not homeconnect, even tho one has to go through isp for these kind of things?
i'll send my pingplotter just now for you to compare when i'm off wifi.
