HTC Magic bombs out after installing alarm clock app(s)

This is weird. It's happened to me probably at least 3 times now and I'm tired of it. I have a Vodacom HTC Magic and it works really, really well. At least, it works well until I install certain alarm apps on it. Most notably, if I install Kaloer Alarm clock (the grooviest looking one of the lot!) my phone hangs. The phone will reboot and basically cycle on the "HTC" screen. (ie: boot over and over again, never getting to a point where I can use it)

It's simple enough resetting it to factory defaults and I've done that with no major hassles except I'd REALLY like to not lose all my settings this time around. So I'm hoping someone else here has experienced the issue and can help Pweeeez

(And there's no way I'm taking it to Vodacom. They'll just reset it and then tell me all about how it reset itself while watching old episodes of The Twilight Zone.)

- Phone's not rooted or anything like that.

Crashed my HTC magic twice. Time to un-install. Had to reset the phone to get it working again. Lost a lot of data. Not happy.

Seems to be a bit of a buggy app in general. Read through the comments there - sms indicator not working, won't start up when on the charge etc etc

I've also had this happen with a different alarm app so I'm thinking there's something weird happening with the HTC Magic when certain alarm apps are installed. The *only* alarm app that hasn't crashed my phone is the "Smart Alarm Clock" @ http://www.smart-alarm-clock.com/

(And, of course, the built-in alarm also doesn't crash my phone but it's crap in any case )

I have had this exact problem, and I have the HTC Dream.

Firmware 1.5

When I installed "Smart alarm clock" (mentioned above, strange that it breaks on my phone) it rebooted. Once it started rebooting it would not stop, the HTC logo shows, then it shows again and again etc.

Had to rip out the battery, reboot into Fastboot and restore factory settings.

Yep we have the exact same issue. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the SPL that Leaf (www.leaf.co.za) put on the phones.

The way I see it, even if I "brick" the phone, I should be able to recover to a standard ROM again and, the way things stand, my phone's unusable in any case and I've already lost all my data thanks to this, so I might as well give this a shot!
