iPhone 14 discussions

Battery life on my 14 PM is pretty bad, it drained 22% last night from 22:00 -> 06:00am while I was asleep, with AOD being off and nothing showing up on the battery usage. This is also after a complete reset I did on Friday. So it's not looking good atm.
Do you have background refresh on and do you have the Facebook app installed?

By background app refresh is turned on but the only app that is enabled is WhatsApp. As far as FB goes, I only have messenger installed for the odd marketplace correspondence. But again, nothing is showing up in the battery usage during that time, so the drain is odd, unless the phone purposefully does not track apps in sleep focus, which I can't imagine being the case.

I might turn it off completely tonight and check again tomorrow morning.

What do your battery usage stats show?

Weird, could be a bug. I often have massive battery drain in standby if I have weak cellular reception - even with WiFi enabled... but that shows up in battery stats;

Do you have the always on display switched on?

That will definitely drain battery and will not show in battery usage;

AOD turns off when sleep focus kicks in - so no. Also I don't think zollotech actually tested this, iPhonedo did a thorough test and concluded that in the worst conditions (under bright studio lights) AOD only drains 0,7% per hour.

Even with one app activated on Background Refresh I’ve found some other apps taking liberties TBH

What’s your phone signal like where you live? Your modem having to hunt for the strongest available signal throughout the night will tank your battery. Could also be your WiFi connection, come to think of it. My mobile signal is only 2-3 bars out here, so I turn on Airplane Mode before I go to bed. Also worth noting that your battery is still going to lose juice over time whether everything is turned off or not, simply due to chemistry in the battery.

Yeah, cellular tower batteries aren’t getting enough time to recharge so the signal during load shedding is trash. That seems to be draining my battery too.

I have HEAVY battery drain on weak cellular signal. In my spare bedroom, cellular reception is virtually non-existent and I could easily lose 20%+ a night just due to low cellular reception.

Finally got my MTN eSim working. Eventually got the Twitter rep to assist. Will see how this affects battery life

Can you please advise on this? My main sim is mtn esim. And i cant go a day without it working. Would like to upgrade soon but the esim thing seems like its going to be frustrating. Would like to have a good idea on how to fix it when the time comes

1. Go to an MTN Store and ask for a sim-swap for an e-Sim as you need a new one. Tell them your old code doesn’t work anymore.
2. You should get one quickly.
3. If new code doesn’t work, repeat steps 1-3 once.
4. DM the MTNza Twitter account and tell them you’ve gone to store and they weren’t able to assist. Provide screenshots.
5. Might need to go through a couple of the Social Media team peeps but one will understand exactly what the issue is and sort it out in 5 minutes.

On this a bit difficult to estimate 2 sim battery usage because of the network issue during load-shedding.

Thanks so much bud. Appreciate the assistance

So I got this message, not only are they making so much money on these phones, they can’t even absorb a slight inflation of the dollar, they already calculated their costs on an inflated exchange rate. Core is one of the most greedy arrogant distributors in South Africa. This will probably change my decision if the price is significantly higher, not because I can’t afford it but out of principle and a protest of their excessive pricing.

Got this message as well, Core is just downright greedy..

I got a pair of AirPods Pro 2 on Friday, never owned any Noise Cancellation airpods or headphones. after leaving the store I tried them on. I couldn’t hear the engine noise from the car, i had to start it while it was already on. I don’t know what I expected from these earbuds but this took me by a surprise

After reading the last couple of pages, I feel like I'm doing something wrong...
