I assume, it picked up the plane in the picture and assumed the number it saw was the plane details? Could see it working as intended, taking a picture of a plane and it pulling up the next flight details etc

It's actually just the number format that looks like a possible flight number I think (live text), the fact that there's an airplane in the photo is a coincidence

Though one of the Flight apps, Flightradar24 maybe? Has a mode where you can hold your phone towards the sky and it will superimpose flight details to any flight in the frame.

Yup, kinda why everyone thought it was legit because it's completely possible already

So, Vodacom phoned to upgrade me. Conveniently forgot to mention that contract actually ends in March 2023 — so I’ll be paying extra per month until then, due to overlapping contracts.

Only found all of that out after phoning back, since apart from an SMS or two, never received the bloody documents confirming all of this, which was supposed to be sent straight after the upgrade.

Anyhow — in the same call, I also found out that the Vodacom dingbat arranged a 14 Pro MAX for me. I wanted a 14 Pro.

Also, I can only cancel when the courier arrives with the device. Not before then.

Currently on a standard 12. I realise the Max is obviously much bigger — but anyone here recently gone “up” to the Max size? Part of me thinks the extra battery life and screen size would be nice — but put off by the “really difficult to use single-handedly” vibes that some reviews have suggested.

If I decide to keep it, want to arrange cover and screen protector for it now already — arriving early in next week. But now I’m like

I prefer the Pro range as the Pro Max's are waaaaaay to big.
Go to the iStore and play around and see how you feel about them

I’ve got the 14 Pro Max, no usability issues for me at all. But my previous phone was a S20+ with the same screen size. Most of your activity is at the bottom part of the screen with the keyboard anyway. I think it depends on the size of your hands.

I've been adjusting fine, switched from a mini to the max. I definitely use two hands more now though, but don't really consider it an issue. Even with my previous phones (XR/mini) I would usually revert to two hands since one handed use just feels a bit awkward for me.

Thanks all. The youngest is still using my hand-me down iPhone 8 Plus, and is in line to receive my iPhone 12.

Very astutely asked me, when I told him I was considering cancelling the Max order, how much bigger it is than the 8 Plus. Answer: It’s hardly bigger. And since I managed fine with the 8+, will no doubt be fine with the Max.

So, ordering the cover over the weekend, to hopefully then arrive close to the time of the new phone. Thanks for the suggestions.

You’ll love it, it’s a great phone!

Anyone knows if there is any istore that has stock on the 14 Pro Max. Pretoria is out.

That is absolutely insane!
Funnily enough in my last comment I was initially typing that I think it’s a modem issue with updated modem FW but due to some people having it and others not and even lack of consistency between models, that’s what lead me to rethink that it’s an iCloud issue, but who knows.

I am sitting at 40% battery now, it’s been a full day since I took it off charge yesterday at 13:54, so I can confirm I don’t have the issue right now, and I hope that does not change, but I can confidently say iOS 16 does eat more juice than I expected on iOS 16.0.2

So just a little update on this. I have now 100% confirmed this overnight drain is an Afrihost LTE issue, I actually can't believe it. Cancelling this nonsense right fkn now.

Since switching to MTN APN by battery only drains 5-6% overnight. And I'm confident it's going to make a big difference during the day as well.

Using the 14 Pro Max. No battery issues so far, much better battery life than my iPhone 13

Thought them saying it’s resolved meant they detailed everyone to be behind the NAT. Looks like only new SIM cards have that luxury

Is anyone else struggling with the phone overheating when charging since updating to iOS 16.0.3?

Anyone having an issue registering for Apple Pay via Standard Bank giving the only option of phoning standard bank to verify

Could use SMS before

Hi,

This isn't an issue with our service actually. It's mobile devices that aren't secured and replying to port scans from bots on the internet. Any carrier that offers a public IP experience the same issue.

It's not that simple. We have a lot of clients that want public IP's and a lot of clients that don't want public IP's and for this reason we can't just force everyone behind nat. Clients get simcards from Afrihost for IoT purposes and need public IP's
