I am going to look at Game, LG 42" plasma for R5500, for the room, or for lounge
Sammy 55" Plasma for R7999 (house and home) (though not sure how i am going to transfer it in my car) and
Sony 46" LCD for R11999 from hifi corp.
I hope they can connect a PS3 to the latter 2.

What is the model nr on the 55" Sammy plasma...? I would love to go a little bit bigger if I could :)

You only get a 50", 58" (not here though) and a 63" Samsung Plasma AFAIK. Isn't the 55" an LCD/LED?

Dunno if it is just me, but my 50C450 seems to look nicer and nicer every day :p

I can sit for hours watching this TV!

I feel the same way about my PS50C430, it is very pretty and performs extremely well. My lounge is quite bright and it suffers a little during the day but when the sun starts going down it's true beauty comes out to play;)

Plasma gets better and better the more it gets used. Noticed the same things with mine. Depth got better, colours more intense. Really beat to watch. And you will notice your IR becomes less and less, and longer to develop. Wins all round!!!

There is definitely truth in that, mine is really looking awesome. :)

Looking for something in the range of a 32" which I can hook up to my PC at times to watch movies (so full hd and plasma would be best right?) and then something a little bigger but just LCD as it will mainly be used for standard def tv. I'm in the Cape Town area...pity cos that Hirsch deal is pretty sweet. Oh, and money is very much an object :-P

You have it slightly mixed up I think. :)

For PC usage (mainly work-related stuff, where there are perma static images like Start bar), you want LCD.

For SD TV and sport, and even SD movies connected to PC, you want plasma.

For PC, either Samsung LA32C530 (±R5,000) or LA32C630/650 (±R7,000) which has 100Hz and other added features and connectivity. Both are 32".

For TV, either Samsung PS42C430/450 (±R6,000) 42" or PS50C430/C450 (±R8,000) 50".

I think that's more like "completely wrong" than "slightly wrong". Whoops.

Just to be clear, the smaller one will not only be used with the PC. It will mainly be a TV but on occasion I'll hook up the PC for movies.

Know good CT stores that sell Samsung?

Thanks.

Where ever SD media/SD TV/sport is a necessity, I would recommend plasma. If you can only get a 32" because of size constraints, and it must be for TV, you need to look at the Samsung 6 Series.

I would go to AudioVision - they've had some good prices recently. Tafelberg too. Whatever the cheapest price you find is, take it to Game and they'll match it and give a further 10% of the total difference in their price and their competitor's better price, as a discount.

You guys haven't seen the best yet!

A friend of mine said that his plasma - apart from depth, colour, accuracy and motion - actually became 3D holographic after a few months! I think the best has yet to come ;)

Probably not - as plasma doesn't come that small and you only option is LCD ...

In general, plasmas suffer from burn in and image retention from static images. Manufacturers do point this out in the manual and have a comprehensive FAQ on the net about it. Warranties will not cover this, as it's user error. They generally don't recommend a static image (ie the start bar). That said, MyBB members are excluded from this
