I had issues with LG, thus hate them and always refer to them as Lousy Goods. . . However I know they do make some quality products, I was just unlucky I guess![]()

Thanks for all the replies.
A friend of mine also bought a Samsung Plasma and it been in for repairs after 4 months.
Just like i have faith in Renaults - mines has been lost on Sammy.
The best advice is always to have a look but thanks for all the advice which gives me a heads up.
I can already see something I don't like. Actually two things.
Firstly, a plasma with a back-light? :erm:
Secondly, 60,000 hours? Samsungs are 200,000 hours before half life.
Always a pleasure.
But my friend has a LG that went in for repairs after three months...

And contrast ratio is low for a plasma.
I am going to look at Game, LG 42" plasma for R5500, for the room, or for lounge
Sammy 55" Plasma for R7999 (house and home) (though not sure how i am going to transfer it in my car) and
Sony 46" LCD for R11999 from hifi corp.
I hope they can connect a PS3 to the latter 2.
Some good reading here - http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/contrast-ratio.html.
I do agree, there is defn something there.
Which is y i went initally for my Sony which is 33k:1 as compared to LG Scarlet 100k:1, sammy 40k:1, and did not notice a difference.
But, and not sure if contrast ratio is the right measure, you can correct me, if i look at (and have tried this out) at cheaper LCD's with ratios from 2k to 15k, they just dont look so bright and sharp when compared to a Sony or Sammy with ratios >30k (and this in the same environment).
Recently helped my b-in-law buy a TV, started with Logik LCD 15k:1 then to Sammy Plasma - so much brighter and crisp but then to LG LCD (33k:1) similar to Sammy but better for PS3 but not for SD.
BTW, the dude was crazy, could not make his mind up, at one stage, had 3 TV's in his house.
