Wow this is getting tiring. I can't believe you are still having to justify your LCD purchase. I guess you have to after forumites were dumbfounded when you said things like viewing <720p was better on the 5 Series Samsung than the 4 Series plasma, after forumites who owned/tested the same TV's have a completely different story. Perhaps you are still in doubt after making the mistake of comparing TV's under shop lights, at incorrect viewing distance, and without fiddling with settings? Everything I've told you I've told you before, go back and read -

You are suggesting this. At the budget pricepoint there is no Plasma to fulfil both tasks at the desired resolution.
What I'm suggesting is that entry LCD's are only good for PC use (i.e. working in Windows). That said, both tasks have never been the issue, only console gaming and HD content. You are the one bringing PC use to the table, after I've already conceded that LCD is better for PC use (and I mean
working on the PC in Windows (bar games and media where plasma wins)). Literally 40 posts ago.
Only Plasma in the discussed price point, not even capable of displaying 1280x720 HD natively.
Doesn't matter, everyone agrees plasma is better at the entry level and low budget, unless you need it for
working on a PC (where there are static images and desktop real estate is important); and unless you are a pixel phreak and sit closer than 1m for 32", 1.5m for 40", and 2m for 50" where you will fully benefit from 1080p/Blu-ray
True, but what most people really care about is new releases. My video shop release both Bluray & DVD at the same time. I dont rent anything less that Bluray now (same price as DVD).
Bla bla bla, you will always have some other excuse. I haven't ever spoken to a single forumite/person who says 720p is better on entry LCD than plasma. You are the only one who claims this while others disagree/d (see thread I linked to). Regarding 1080p, there are even some that say 1080p is better on 720p plasma than on entry level 1080p LCD (e.g. TRON 1080p) because they care about picture quality before resolution, because they sit at normal home viewing distances, not 1m @ 32", 1.5m @ 42", or 2m @ 50" as per official guidelines. The need for 1080p is a lot less in these cases, again unless you are a pixel phreak and would rather sacrifice PQ and better viewing experience for more pixels. Like I said before, entry plasma is always better for everything 720p and less, sure 1080p Blu-rays puts a spin on things however because I prefer PQ and overall experience over pixels, and because I sit far out of the official guidlines for full 1080p viewing experience, I will take entry plasma any day over entry LCD, even 42".
You're getting stuck in the here and now. What period does the average person buy a TV for ... years. As time goes by more & more content/games will be moving to higher resolutions. I for one dont want to be stuck with a unit that will not cater for this trend.
Bla bla bla. Entry plasma kills entry LCD at everything 720p, and even 1080p unless you are a pixel phreak.
Haha I got a mention by name

hehe
Well like pp said I took the 13gig full hd rip that I had of tron and took my laptop to hirschs connected via hdmi.
The contenders were the ps42c450 and the la40c550.
After the brief showing on both sets. The difference was clear and even the small army of sales person couldn't argue. The plasma was the winner by a football field.
At that price u can't get a better picture than the plasma. Doesn't matter that it's hd ready. Still out performs lower end full hd lcds.
Enough said.
