Not irritated at all, always up for a debate. But I'm glad your perceiving my posts in that way gives you joy. Troll, I won't be swooping to your level.

You have nonsense petty points and pixel phreaketry on your side; I have sheer numbers of buyers on my side who realise after testing and after having owned both techs that entry level 1080p 60Hz LCD sucks, and that entry level 720p 1024x768/1366x768 plasma kills it, often at 1080p.

You're the trolly fanboi Mr. I am going to check out new TVs over the next few weeks and will report back, who knows, maybe I will opt for the D450 although I doubt it.
 
What is the best price one can expect to pay for the new Samsung 51D550? Sensorei got it for R11k at Tafelberg, I think. Anybody got it cheaper?

Na, one of them owned the 4 Series plasma and then changed their mind and went for 7 Series LCD. That's what they had to say. Can't say whether they are knowledgeable or not, but comparing something like SD doesn't take that much brains if you ask me. :p

What about myself that went from plasma to Series 6?
Or TYR that went from KURO to Series 7?

If - as he says - his Series 7 is just about about to equal to the best plasma in the world ... hmmm

I will place a bet that SD (or SD TV at least) on Series 4 plasma is better than SD on Series 6 LCD.

I think TYR was referring to black levels. He also said he still prefers his KURO? Suppose we need him to confirm. Just for the record, remember that KURO is about 5 years old ! As your plasma is about 3 - 4 years old now ? Doubt that is a fair comparison, how can you remember how SD looked ? Remember, the forumite that says SD is better on S4 plasma compared SD on S7 LCD the next day, not 4 years later !

Is this the bargains thread, or the LCD vs plasma flame wars thread? :confused: Take it somewhere else people, creating a new thread isn't going to kill any kittens, and it doesnt take very long either
 
this is getting tiring. pages and pages of opinions and some facts. i wanna buy a tv soon and i tend to overanalayse things. coming to this thread may make it worse. lets just add bargains and maybe get detailed opinions in seperate threads.

anyhoo, Dion says they getting the new samsung 51" Plasmas in about 2 weeks i.e. 3D HDR and FHD. Can anyone else confirm this? Games says they will get it just after Dion.

I don't see why they wouldn't, since plenty of stores already have them.

I'm actually surprised Game/Makro/Dion are taking so long.
 
i see the guys in CT are getting them. where in Gauteng/which stores?
 
I assume that's the new series 5 FHD plasmas? What do they go for (no 3D version)
 
Ok, well in that case how much is the 3D going for?

Otherwise, any good deals on the PS50C550?
