I would but there aren't any words to describe how awesome the 3D on this tv is, please if someone else has watched a 3D tech demo on this tv back me up, I watched a LG 3D demo and had full HD fish swimming out of my tv.

I agree, though watched on a LCD - far better than cinema.
The problem with 3D now is not cost, but rather content.

Just out of curiosity, I did a few calculations about exactly how much you score when you upgrade from a 42" TV to a 51" TV. A 42" screen is 36.61" x 20.59" (W x H), which gives you a total surface area of 753.8 square inches or 4863.22 square centimeters. A 51" screen is 44.45" x 25.00" (W x H), which gives you a total surface area of 1111.2 square inches or 7169.02 square centimeters. That is a difference of 2305.8 square centimeters, or in other words, you gain 47.41% compared to the original viewing area! That sort of makes it worth the while!
If you upgrade from a 42" TV to a 47" TV, you gain 25.2%

Guys, what you think about Samsung 51D550 for R.10700 plus R.1000 for another 3 year warranty. Is there any better prices in Joburg at the moment and is it worthing to purchase a warranty as well.

Good price, yes take the warranty.

O'K tnx will see what i'm going to do. Busy reading some reviews on the damn thing. Not good to say the least black levels and bad glare. Will carry on reading. If any one who all ready owns the TV wants to comment i will appreciate. Tnx again.

I've heard it has black level on par with Pioneer KURO. :p Link to reviews? Go and look at the thing yourself.

There are a few owners here, obviously they're ecstatic.

Hi Postman, no where near any Kuro or Panny unfortunately this must a joke right? The test is for 51D8000, 550 probably even worse. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=20168734&postcount=50. FYI Pana are talking around 0,04 and no difference in black levels for different screen sizes for the last two years if i'm not wrong. The price of course is at least 50% cheaper for Sammy and 4 years warranty is a bonus. This are the main problems with Pana from States. Still reading :) Enjoy as well!

If you are really interested read the article. This guy does a lot of professional tests for years and proven himself as trust able or at least i believe him more then what was thrown around this forum :) Will be happy if you can point me to a review that says opposite.

Check this "Furthermore, Chris and I pulled out a Panasonic ST30 plasma and compared the minimum luminance level of it and the PN51D8000, and the ST30 was noticeably darker. So, if the LCE is real and not just hype, unfortunately it was not making itself known." And he is comparing highest Sammy against lowest possible Pana i'm scared to think what is the difference on VT30.

Yep, that is correct and D8000 defiantly is the better screen from both or at least Samsung thinks so. One is going for around 2k US and D550 for 1200 US. Big difference in price don't you think?

Go into the store and compare it to a ±50" similarly priced LCD... If you can find one. ;)

So is it comparible to a similarly priced LCD or a KURO? Also, the people who have been throwing around that it is comparible to a KURO, have they owned KUROs or are they just assuming?

No idea. Go compare to a R10,500 ±50" LCD... Then we talk.

*edit*

Would be between a LA46C550 (±R10,000) and LA46C650 (±R12,000).

Already, both are smaller. And I know for sure the PS50D550 will cream the LA46C550.

I just worry about this blacklevel story now. I need to go check one out myself
