Logik 47 vs Sinotec 47

Whoa there gentlemen , I decided on the 47 Sinotec as I have other commitments (wedding , honeymoon etc) to attend to. Will be picking it up this afternoon :)

But yeah , let's compare apples with apples , for the price range the Sinotec IS the best value for money (even though it's a "lucky packet" sometimes). I will be opening the box at the premises to check everything is OK.

What else should I be looking out for ? Flash Lighting ? Ghosting? Dead Pixels?

Guys , thx a mill for all the inputs!

Ghosting is not something you're going to fix - check for dead pixels and flash lighting, although flashlighting will be difficult in a store with bright lights

I took a flash disk with images I created in paint of solid colours - I then played those on the display.... and looked at each one closely for any blemishes, dead/hot pixels, flashlighting, etc.

BTW - minimal flash lighting is relativity common on LCDs - even expensive ones.

dead pixels are gonna be a tough one to spot too, so take your time!

i've got 2 dead pixels, and I can't even find them fairly easy and I even KNOW in roughly what area they are

it's really hard to see them....

edit: you get an app called "dead pixel locator" that fills the full screen with a color at the click of a button (small app)

A family member recently purchased a 47" Sinotech which had a stuck pixel. After the schlep of returning it to Game they swapped it out no question, without even checking it.

Thais why I suggested a flash disk with coloured images - much easier to spot on certain colours. :)

I took my Samsung back because of this - eventually tested it in store. I had hot pixels though... was like damn stars...

I find Game one of the easiest to deal with when it comes to warranties, and swap outs... especially within 7 (14?) days...

Thing is, I compared the Sony, Sino (I actually went to buy it because I started the other thread), Samsung and Philips....

I chose the Sony, then took it back because of issues and bought the Samsung

My order of preference on display quality only (not sound) was Sony > Samsung > Sino > Philips. (and yes, the R6000 I spent more for the Samsung 46" was justified in my eyes.) I didn't want to sit with something for five years knowing I could have gotten a better quality item for a bit more

I spent a good amount of time in Makro, making them drag a player between displays before deciding on a screen... I could especially see the differences in dark action scenes.

In the end it's all about the material you play. I've got a friend that paid R20k for his 40" Sony Bravia a while back but he has only one blu-ray movie and all of his PS3 games are 720p. So his content doesn't look nearly as good compared to my 47" Sinotec connected to the PC where I'm making full use of the screen resolution.

Ok , so I've picked up my new Sino 47 , and STILL I encountered flash lighting after about 2 hours of viewing :

I'm really getting disheartened here , do all Sino's suffer from this or am I just unlucky? Should I wait a few days and see if it goes away? The bloody Game was so well lit that I really couldn't discern if there was flash lighting or not.

I must say with the Mede8r the picture looks really good full screen and the flash lighting is not as bothering as when it was stretched on my PC.

What you guys think?

omg that's messed up!

first time i've ever even HEARD of this! - what is it, like, blue in the corners of the screen?

i've seen my asus LCD monitor do this at the bottom if the screen was completely black, but i thought that was called "bleeding" - same thing?

I have no bleeding on my set, so there is something wrong with that batch imo

i'm sure they wouldn't mind that you swap it again, IF you get a more expensive set (like a sony/sammy) because then they get more money

but who knows, maybe they will? ask them WTF is going on because this is NOT on imo.

Sorry Bru. What I said!

Ja ja , only problem is the only lcd close to this is their Sammy 46" @ R20K which is waaaay out of my price range. Should I maybe go for the V550? Problem is my viewing distance is 3.7m , and I'm liking the 47" , part from the bleeding/flash lighting the picture is awesome :P

They are willing to sell me the Logik at the same price , but I've not seen any reviews on the Logik 47" , so I'm hesitant.

I don't know anymore...help!

If it makes you feel better, I was also only lucky on my second one :)

Also, I'm not sure what settings the sinotec has, but try set the power to medium... and what I did on my Samsung was loosen the two 'case' screws in the top corners of the panel, about 3/4 turn each... helped quite a bit

My advice is to call Sinotec (sinoprima) direct. Explain to them the whole story and see what happens. I am sure they will sort it out.

i also noticed a slight white light in the top left hand and right hand corners of my 42''. Sinotec contacted me and said they would send a technician to my house to come and fix it. But i noticed this 'ghost' was only occurring on my Laptop to TV display. My Ps3 does not suffer from this at all...so its more than likely a setting or resolution i need to fix but seriously it doesnt bother me.its obviously not the tv but the output on my gfx card on my laptop? anyways i feel for you bro but if you wanna give the Logik a go why not.

im still behind Sinotec 100 % ...for now :p

penguins idea is fantastic - and tell them you have posted on mybb and nobody can help you, so they know this issue is already on a public forum, in a sinotec thread.

they are friendly people from what i have read on hellopeter, so im sure they would help

good going IAP!

Phoned Sinoprima , seems all the new models have cheap Chinese LCD panels in them. They have had many complaints about this , so I'm taking it back on Sat for a full refund @ Game.

It's really sad because the people that bought the earlier models got good value for money and now because of greed , consumers have to suffer.

So , I'm back on the hunt again , problem is now I am used to the 47 so shopping will be expensive on brand names.I'm also leaning towards plasma now , as this bleeding on LCD's has me worried as I'm quite pedantic and this would bother me on any LCD.

Any recommendations on plasma's would be helpful.

im so disappointed in sinotec - what?! cheap chinese panels you say?

booooooo sinotec! :(

well the best you can do now is go for a smaller samsung plasma i guess...

it won't be that bad man, might be a bit smaller but now at least you can say its a good brandname :)

plasma is better for SD TV too

i've been thinking about this - maybe they are putting in cheap crap in the hopes that some people will buy them and not know wtf bleeding/etc is, or maybe even not notice it...

and if people DO notice it, hey - just swap it and try the next customer?
game also wins because they sell amazingly cheap TV's, which means people buy at game FIRST - some return them, and then have to spend more to get a better make?

could I be right?

I think that is exactly the case , even with Makro , they had like 10 in stock and when I asked the sales manager about their return policy he just said "Bring it back". The person I spoke to at Sinoprima (won't name names) , when I asked him "So , would you recommend buying a brand name rather" his reply "I'm not saying anything...". I think there is a major fight going on at Sinoprima as I could hear that this is not the first complaint nor will it be the last.

NOW , which plasma should I look at? There was a PS50B430 at Hifi for R12999 , but that's an old series 4... The PS50B550 is the one I want but out of my price range R16K

Dengit man! And I was sooo looking forward to watching some BBC Life HD this w/e....

dude, wait - you got your money back, so you can spend it at another store? wow - that's cool!!

don't buy at hi-fi - next time something looks "off" on your TV set, you might not get the same service you did at game, ie: "you will only be credited"

Hmmm , I see House&Home has a LG 50" (50PQ30) for R12549 , good buy maybe?

Yes I must say the people at Game Centurion were amazingly helpful and understanding , kudos to them.

I'll see what plasma's they have , might look at the Sony V550 (but I think I will kick myself if the drop the prices even more when the new 3D's come out).
