Manual vs Automatic

Personal opinion - I think people who switch off ESP are morons. I have no intention of damaging my car, just want to have a bit of fun.

That said, these systems vary greatly between vehicles.
Agreed.

The stability control on the Jaguar XF is pretty conservative, which is probably why they include a "Track DSC" mode. When you do a quick press of the DSC button, it enables track mode. Press and hold for about 20 seconds, and it disables DSC completely. They even have a table in the manual listing different scenarios where you would use the different stages of DSC (on, track, completely off).

I did my first trackday using sport mode. which is relaxed stability control. I promised myself for self presevation i wouldnt use race mode. after a few laps in (and with an instructor) i tried race mode. where everything is off except ABS on full brake application. If i didnt have race mode i would have thought sport is great. but race mode i actually felt more in control and predictable. Also it allows you to hit the limiter without auto upshift which greatly helps mid corner control and gear selection. Though i might sing a different tune if is lift off oversteered into a barrier.

That's ok if you know YOUR limitations don't switch it off since maybe you don't have the skill of somebody else.

However calling everybody who switches it off morons is as much a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect as the actual morons who turn it off and then damage their vehicles.

OK, my bad, not everybody. Let's meet halfway on every Mustang driver leaving cars and coffee.

Generalizations is definitely the issue but I get his point.

As stated here. There's just too many people who think they can drive on the limit properly. Like those who say "ReAl DrIvErS UsE mAnUel" but don't know how to heal or toe and understand balancing a car using its powertrain

Unpopular option ahead. Set phasers to disagree...

Manual, sequential or paddle thank you :)

I absolutely despise automatic gearboxes, owning, operating or repairing them.

If you're too lazy to shift gears, sell your car and take a taxi / uber

Send pics of your manual choke, hand crank starter and non-boosted braking system

Do you turn off the airbags too?

I have an automatic gearbox with paddles in my daily drive, is this OK?
